For the first time, Valve has published its own regional teams’ rating — the rating by which invitations to the CS:GO Majors qualification stages will be determined.
Valve has published the first version of its own rating and the methodology by which it is determined. The company will use the results of teams in other championships to simplify the qualification process. Going forward, this system will determine invitations to closed qualifiers for regional RMR tournaments.
Rating component
Valve stated that the rankings are based on three factors: the team’s prize money earned, their opponents’ prize money earned, and head-to-head results. According to the release, the current formula will be used for the pre-BLAST.tv Paris Major qualifiers, but may change at a later date as Valve continues to experiment with the model in an attempt to find one that best predicts the outcome of future matches.
The exact formula will be reportedly made public in the coming weeks.
Each region has its own rating
The ranking is divided into three regions – Europe, America and Asia, each of which will be used to determine half of the teams invited to the closed qualifiers for the respective RMR tournaments for the Major.
Valve will be continuously updating the table, until the start of open qualifiers. Currently, a total of more than 300 teams participate in the ranking. You can find the top teams in the rankings at the moment in a list below:

CS:GO Major qualification system overhaul ahead of 2023
This marks the continuation of the changes that Valve has been recently making to the CS:GO Major qualification system. These changes include adding the closed qualifier for some of the top-ranked teams that consistently perform well at Valve-hosted and third-party events but didn’t receive a direct invite to RMRs, as well as expanding RMR slots for the Asian region.
