This disappointing result must have hurt gla1ve personally. His IGL prowess has the potential to turn ENCE into one of the world’s best CS2 teams. But in the actual tournaments, they are messing up badly.

Finishing 21st – 28th at a tournament like ESL Pro League S19, where you have to lose three best-of-three matches to be eliminated, is a major red flag. Arguably, it’s still too early to say that the current ENCE roster does not have the potential to win anything important without changing players. But the situation is becoming problematic.

At PGL Major Copenhagen, ENCE finished 20th – 22nd. Here they did even worse and it’s hard to blame someone for this mess. It’s just one of those situations where the roster doesn’t synergize very well.

ENCE’s Results

ENCE started group C of ESL Pro League with a defeat against GamerLegion. This team ended up qualifying for the playoffs by finishing 3rd in the group and beating ENCE twice. Both times, the score was 2 – 0 and the maps were relatively one-sided. ENCE won 10 rounds on just one of the four maps On the other three, they won five or six.

In both matches, GamerLegion had a player who performed really well. That player was sl3nd. He’s just 19 years old but is quickly becoming one of the best players of his generation.

After losing the first match against GL, ENCE won two matches. One against Bad News Kangaroos (2 – 1) and the other against Monte. Both of these teams are quite weak at this competitive level, so ENCE’s victories did not mean much. But they did help them get to the last match of the mid bracket, which they lost against LG.

In the lower bracket, ENCE lost their first match, against FURIA Esports. Clearly, by now they were demoralized. This was obvious from the fact that despite winning the first half of each map 8 – 4, they lost the second half in a terrible way. On Nuke they only won one more round, while on Mirage they won zero rounds.

FURIA are known to be in bad shape at the moment because of arT’s departure. With a new IGL and a new player who needs to be integrated, it is very hard to win CS2 matches against the world’s best teams. ENCE should have won this battle with ease. The fact that they lost clearly shows that they need to change something quickly.
