Another of the great games we enjoyed in the quarterfinals of Thunderpick World Championship 2023 was between Monte and Spirit, where the Ukrainian team prevailed to take a resounding 2-0 victory.

Both Monte and Spirit have shown a high level of play in this early CS2 era in the few tournaments that have been played online. As a result, it will always be very exciting to watch matches between these types of squads. However, no one expected Monte to be able to make a big splash by destroying Spirit in such a way.

On the other hand, it’s not that Monte didn’t do the merits to take this resounding victory; on the contrary, Szymon “kRaSnaL” Mrozek was in charge of leading his team to victory in this match. kRaSnaL finished the series with 89.9 ADR and a 1.42 Rating, according to HLTV.

Now, without further ado, let’s see what happened in the match between Monte and Spirit in the Thunderpick World Championship 2023 quarterfinals.

Monte annihilates Spirit by 2-0

Monte, the team that finished second in the Roobet Cup 2023 a few days ago, gave another blow on the table in this match of the Thunderpick World Championship 2023 Quarterfinals against Spirit to take an excellent 2-0 victory. While it is true that Spirit had moments of brilliance that they could have used to take the victory, especially in the second map, Monte prevailed to take the convincing victory.

The series between Monte and Spirit was played on Nuke and Vertigo.

Nuke

It all started on Nuke, Spirit’s map pick, where the Ukrainian squad showed great determination from start to finish to take the victory.

In the first half, kRaSnaL and Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev repelled the Russian approaches to take a 7-5 partial victory. This, no doubt, left a lot of possibilities open for both teams.

However, at the change of sides, Monte managed to take 6 rounds of the 9 played to seal the victory in this first map by 13-8.

Vertigo

Next, we moved to Vertigo, Monte’s map pick, where we enjoyed a great game that was back and forth from start to finish. However, despite having to play Overtime, the Ukrainian team managed to take the victory by 16-12 and thus seal their ticket to the tournament’s semifinals.

In the first half, Monte, with an impressive collective game, managed to take a convincing 8-4 partial victory in their T Side. However, unlike the first map, at the change of sides, Spirit managed to wake up to strike back in a great way thanks to Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia (111.1 ADR and 1.65 Rating) to even the score 12-12 and send the map to Overtime.

Finally, after only 4 rounds in OT, Monte managed to take the victory by 16-12, thus sealing his ticket to the Thunderpick World Championship 2023 semifinals.
