Following the reveal of Singapore as the location for The International 2022, Valve has now also confirmed the dates of the event. The crowning Dota 2 tournament will run between October 8 and 30 at Singapore’s Suntec Arena and Indoor Stadium.

As a result of Valve’s experiment with the tournament structure and schedule, this year’s The International will be longest-running TI to date, spanning multiple weekends throughout October. According to the announcement, the event will see more breaks than usual, with a “greater build to finals”.

Three times first

This year’s edition of The International won’t only be the longest-running TI to date, but it will also be the biggest. A total of 30 Dota 2 teams from all over the world will travel to Singapore to fight for their share of the $1,600,000 prize pool. That’s quite an increase in capacity compared to the previous editions, which usually hosted 18 teams in Group Stage without the Last Chance Qualifier.

The extended length and more multi-day breaks throughout the event are likely to compensate for the increased number of competing teams. Furthermore, this marks the first time TI is taking place in the Southeast Asian region.

Qualifiers

The Last Chance Qualifiers for the championship are scheduled to run Between October 8 and 12, followed by the Group Stage for the top 20 Dota 2 teams set to take place from October 15 – 18. Sixteen teams will then advance to playoffs taking place from October 20-23 at the Suntec Arena. Finally, after a 5-days-long break, the remaining teams will battle it out in the final stage of the tournament, which will be held between October 29-30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, where this year’s TI champions will be crowned.

More details about the event, including ticket information, are to be announced at a later date.

Dota Plus confirmed

Additionally, Valve has also confirmed that its Dota 2 team is currently working on the new Dota Plus update for June, which will include the gameplay update, as well as the traditional seasonal refresh and multiple new unspecified features. The 7.31d Gameplay Update will be reportedly larger than usual, with the release date set for June 8th.
