The number one Asian team is wreaking havoc in ESL Pro League Season 19. TheMongolZ began their campaign by taking down Team Falcons and now G2 Esports.
TheMongolZ demolished NiKo and G2 Esports in an incredibly quick 2-0 series. Coming into the tournament, the Mongolian squad was not expected to make a deep run but have defied all expectations.
Before the match, the G2 organization’s Twitter account was already firing shots at TheMongolZ. The social media admin tweeted that the series would be a quick 2-0. Though the Western European organization’s social networks have always portrayed a cocky persona, fans could not disagree and thought G2 would easily take the series.

Map 1 – Ancient
The chaotic playstyle of Asian Counter-Strike favored TheMongolZ in the early rounds of Ancient. G2 was blown out in the first five rounds of play, allowing TheMongolZ to get themselves up 5-0. G2 attempted to retaliate but could only manage four rounds in the first half.
Fans thought HooXi and the crew could make a comeback on the Counter-Terrorist side, but a devastating 2v1 loss against Senzu sealed the first map in favor of TheMongolZ, 13-4. Every player from the Mongolian squad posted positive ratings, as it was a collective team effort.
Map 2 – Anubis
Sure, TheMongolZ convincingly won the first map, but most community members thought it was a fluke. Now, it was G2’s map pick, Anubis. However, TheMongolZ silenced the doubters and continued annihilating the Kovac cousins.
The offensive half of TheMongolZ was nothing short of a masterclass performance. The young roster executed their strategies in sync and were always ready to trade a dead teammate. Such efforts allowed them to post a dominant 9-3 half. The G2 players, namely m0Nesy, could be seen visibly tilting.
G2 was looking to form some sort of a comeback, approaching the second pistol round with a 3 versus 1 retake. However, Techno4K clutched the round, and pretty much sealed the deal. Though the Europeans could post a few rounds, the lead TheMongolZ had built was too significant, and the map ended 13-7.
TheMongolZ’s AWPer, 910, had a monstrous performance on Anubis, going 23-8 with 112 ADR and a 1.86 rating. An absolute beast.
What’s Next For TheMongolZ?
We all know how important social media engagements are, and the Twitter admin for TheMongolZ did not disappoint. They quoted G2’s tweet mentioning the series would be a fast 2-0, saying the organization was right all along.

With this victory, TheMongolZ secured a spot in the Playoffs of the $750,000 event, making it the first top-eight finish for the majority of the roster. They will play against ZywOo and Team Vitality for a spot in the Upper Bracket Final in an attempt to skip a match in the Playoffs.
