Years go by, and every time the Game Awards attract more and more attention from fans worldwide.
Geoff Keighley can feel proud after the last The Game Awards gala a few days ago.
The well-known presenter animated this gala before making the popular broadcasts, such as the Steam Decks raffles every minute or rewards delivered through Twitch drops.
All this, added to the traditional excitement of the audience to see notable announcements, has made The Game Awards 2022 the most successful edition to date.
Geoff Keighley published audience data for the last few years
Keighley himself shared on his official Twitter account that the 2022 edition of the Game Awards has not only reached a higher number of viewers watching the event worldwide but has undoubtedly surpassed several important milestones.
This year #TheGameAwards hit a new viewership milestone: 103 million livestreams.
Thank you for making this the most-watched Game Awards in history.

As we can see in Geoff’s Tweet, this 103 million represents an increase of 18 million concerning the event held in 2021.
Keighley also pointed out in his publications that, on Twitter, 11.5 million reproductions were reached through the different videos published, representing an annual increase of 28%.
This is complemented by a 31% increase in the use of the hashtag #TheGameAwards.
Steam Deck Massive Giveaway
It was also streamed live on Steam, where Valve gave away a Steam Deck for every minute (and it was, if we count the preshow, 210 minutes).
It was so successful that they then gave away another hundred more! But, of course, despite the generous promotion, the chances of winning were remote when there were 9.5 million viewers.
The Game Awards 2023
Remember that next year will be the 10th edition of The Game Awards, so the event will likely be much better than the one we just enjoyed.
Likewise, Keighley is already preparing for Summer Game Fest 2023, which, scheduled for June, will be held for the first time in an in-person format.
Summer Game Fest will return on June 8, 2023, and on June 25, there will be a symphony concert at the Hollywood Bowl, celebrating ten years of The Game Awards.
Most applauded announcements at The Game Awards 2022
Aside from these figures regarding the number of viewers in the event’s official broadcast, we can highlight that many surprises excited the fans present.
At this event, we could look at games such as Death Stranding 2, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, or Judas, by the creator of Bioshock.
As if that wasn’t enough, the event also crowns Elden Ring as the GOTY of 2022.
As well as the rest of the awards of the ceremony that we detailed previously in a previous article.
