Legion Commander is now the most successful hero in Dota 2

After proving her usefulness for the past several months, Legion Commander has finally become the most successful hero in Dota 2. At the moment, her win rate is 55.37% according to Dotabuff and her pick rate is 23.5%. This situation rarely occurs but it did in this case because LC is very easy to play.

When it’s not that complicated to master a hero and then gain hundreds of MMR with it, the community is quick to take advantage of the situation. The only problem is that IceFrog is also quick to nerf such heroes and bring them back to where they need to be.

We saw what happened to Medusa, whose win rate was nearly 58% at one point! Now she’s back to 49.5% and it only took several nerfs for this to happen.

Legion Commander’s strengths

Legion Commander excels at tanking damage and trapping an enemy hero in a duel that’s almost always favorable to her.

In part, that advantage is achieved by purchasing a Blade Mail, which is why you want to always buy the item on this hero. It only costs 2100 gold and what you get is incredibly powerful: +20 damage +7 armor, 20 + 20% return damage for every attack and 85% return damage for 5.5s when you activate it.

A quick calculation will let you know that you gain a huge HP difference when you use this item in a duel.

The hero’s abilities are incredibly strong, especially if there are multiple enemies around or if their method of killing a target involves a perfect chain of disables. LC’s Overwhelming Odds deals massive damage in a 600 radius and gives her bonuses like attack speed, damage, and armor.

Using Press The Attack, Legion Commander gains a 22% movement speed bonus for 5 seconds and 60 HP regen per second. But more importantly, she applies a strong dispel on herself or her allies, which is often critical to avoid certain death.

Moment of Courage provides excellent lifesteal, which can be helpful when farming in the jungle, especially in the early game. It can also be quite useful when fighting enemy heroes if you have enough damage. With a relatively low number of duel victories, LC becomes a terrifying opponent for any type of hero.

The only weakness of this hero is that Duel is weak at level 1. It doesn’t last very long and will only give you +10 bonus damage if you succeed.
