NiP’s decision to bench Brollan comes at a time when quite a few exceptional players have been benched by their organizations. Under normal circumstances, this probably wouldn’t have happened.

Even though Ninjas in Pyjamas has had a rough year so far, the IGL change would have been enough. The fact that they didn’t stop there and decided to bench Brollan as well suggests that they want to take advantage of the volatile situation that exists at the moment.

Who will replace Brollan?

NiP took a chance of this nature before, with device, and lost. The move was supposed to turn the club into one of the best in CS:GO. That didn’t happen and device ended up taking a one-year break to deal with the psychological issues that were troubling him at the time. Eventually, device returned to Astralis and NiP was left in a bad situation.

Now that several great players are no longer part of an active roster, NiP is likely in talks with some of them. We cannot know who’s on the list, but it’s hard not to suspect that cadiaN might be the man they’re after.

NiP already has two Danish players, es3tag and k0nfig. In top of that, cadiaN and k0nfig have already played together, so they understand each other well. This roster has exceptionally talented individuals. All it lacks right now is great leadership and a strategic mind that’s capable of finding a way to win.

CadiaN would be absolutely perfect for this. But to sign him, NiP would probably have to pay a lot of money because he’s one of the best IGLs in the world at the moment.

Another unknown variable is the role for which he would be signed. Will es3tag continue to serve as the team’s IGL? Or will he allow cadiaN to do what he does best? The latter option is much more likely.

Apart from cadiaN, it’s worth noting that sh1ro has recently been benched by Cloud9, and he is one of the world’s best if his mental state is not afflicted by personal issues.

S1mple is out of the question because he already stated that he needs a break from Counter-Strike. He did say that he’s interested in hearing offers from other organizations, but it’s unlikely that he’ll leave Na’Vi for a team like NiP. He even made fun of their roster a few times, which indicates that he doesn’t regard them as being strong enough for him.
