A total of 160 of the best players on the North American TFT servers will match up in the upcoming week in the Jade Cup.

TFT Esports

The Teamfight Tactics community has been steadily growing and so has its esports scene. For each TFT set, the North American TFT esports team is organizing a competitive series of events. Their current series called TFT Dragonlands is composed of five events spanning from July to October finishing off with the grand Regional Finals. Throughout these events, the best NA representatives can earn Qualifier Points that help them qualify for the Dragonlands Mid-Set Finale and the Dragonlands NA Regional Finals.

Jade Cup

Jade Cup will send four players straight to the Dragonlands Mid-Set Finale. Riot Games has already partnered with Wisdom Gaming, which will handle tournament organization and broadcast production for this event through its giantslayer.tv platform, where you can find information, statistics, schedule, and everything related to this tournament.

Viewers will also have the chance to compete against each other for prizes through Fantasy TFT. It’s a free fantasy trading market in which you can buy and sell your favorite TFT players during the live event and it’s back for the Dragonlands competitive series. Of all the players that will sign up for the event, only the top 152 will be invited, and the top 24 will be seeded directly into day three of the competition.

Dates, where to watch, criteria

The upcoming Jade Cup will take place over the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August. The first half of the tournament will kick off on July 30 at 1 PM PDT and it will not be shown on the main broadcast. The second half will play out on August 6 and 7, starting at 1 PM PDT, with a dedicated broadcast of play-by-play casters and analysis.

The on-air talent will include Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer who will co-host the tournament with the help of Nathan “Admirable” Zamora, Nick “Gangly” DePasquale, and Chris “boop” Lessard. Viewers can follow the competition on the Teamfight Tactics official Twitch channel

Here are the criteria you must meet to be accepted:

  • Permanent resident of North America
  • Being a top 160 ranked player as of July 25 when the sign-ups end with a snapshot to prove it

Jade Cup Format

The format advances the top 32 players directly into day three of the competition, while the rest 128 players are split up into eight-player lobbies on day one.

First Weekend

Each lobby will play two games and the lobbies will be reshuffled after every two games. After the sixth game ends, the top 64 players will move on to day two. Players will compete through the same format on day two and the top 32 will advance to day three.

Second weekend

The final 64 players will begin the second half of the competition on August 6 with the same format throughout six games. The final 32 players that will advance to day four will have their points reset but will be awarded bonus points. The top four players of day three will receive three points, the following eight will receive two points, and the remaining 12 players will receive one point. Day four will play out through five games after which only eight players will remain. Those players will meet in a final lobby for two more games after which the Jade Cup champion will be crowned.
