The two top CS:GO teams NaVi and Vitality present their new rosters in a showmatch today! We got the chance to talk to the teams and chatted not only with NaVi, but of course with Team Vitality as well.

We asked the newly crowned Major winning team how they remembered the last CS:GO Major, how the Playerbreak went and what goals the team has set for themselves. In the process, Coach Mathieu “MaT” Leber and the team’s IGL Dan “apEX” Madesclaire answered a few questions for us.

Interview with Vitality’s apEX and MaT

Fragster: How did the Playerbreak go, were you able to recover a bit?

MaT & apEX: Well, we had 2,5 weeks off, but that wasn’t really enough to recover properly. But honestly, I’m already used to it and I can still rest later when I say goodbye to esports. I can still go full throttle for the next few years.

Fragster: Does that mean that you have already planned your retirement? Do we have to say goodbye to you soon apEX?

apEX: No, don’t worry. I turned 30 this year and I’m just slowly noticing that I’m getting older. But if you look around in the scene, there are other older players like Karrigan who are still playing. We’ll see when I make the decision, but when the time comes, I’m definitely going to take a year off from the scene and detox digitally, that’s for sure.

Fragster: Apart from the fact that you won the last major, how was it for you? How satisfied were you with your performance?

MaT & apEX: Honestly, it was like a dream come true for us, especially for the French players on the team. We could almost not believe it. Just the idea that we won the very last CS:GO major ever and then in Paris without dropping a map…. It was just like a miracle! We didn’t think it would be that perfect, so we’re just overjoyed with how it went. It couldn’t have been any better.

Fragster: There are quite a few roster moves right now, what do you think about them? Which team looks the most interesting?

MaT & apEX: Yeah that’s true, it’s just the craziest offseason ever. Probably the most exciting thing is that NaVi is playing with an international roster from now on. We are very excited to see how all the new rosters will do in the scene. It will definitely be another exciting year.

We will see the new Team Vitality roster in action for the first time today:

  • Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut
  • Emil “Magisk” Reif
