The playoffs stage of PGL Major Copenhagen features eight teams and is played in a single-elimination format. In the third match of the quarterfinals, Eternal Fire will face a very tough opponent: Natus Vincere.

However, this is not s1mple’s team anymore. He is merely a substitute for now, which means that EF have a good chance of winning the match. But it won’t be easy. When put under pressure, highly successful teams tend to play better than usual while less successful ones tend to make mistakes, even if they’re in great shape.

Eternal Fire’s Chances

Eternal Fire started the tournament in stage 1 and qualified for stage 2 with a record of 3 W – 1 L. Their defeated opponents were The MongolZ, paiN Gaming, and GamerLegion. The team that  managed to beat them was HEROIC.

In stage 2, the Turks encountered multiple strong teams, three of which ended up qualifying for the playoffs, and only lost against one: MOUZ. In the other three matches, they defeated Team Vitality, FaZe Clan, and Virtus.pro.

These results clearly suggest that EF are very capable at the moment. But the main problem is that Na’Vi are not weak either. The two teams already faced each other less than two months ago, at IEM Katowice. In the lower bracket of group A, Na’Vi won 2 – 1. Their victory, despite the defeat suffered on Nuke, was very convincing.

Natus Vincere’s Chances

Na’Vi entered the Copenhagen Major in stage 2 and struggled to qualify for the playoffs. They won their first two matches, against The MongolZ and G2 Esports, but then ran into Team Spirit and Cloud9, who were both in excellent shape.

In the 5th match, played against paiN Gaming, Na’Vi played a great game and won 2 – 0: 13 – 10 on Nuke and 13 – 9 on Mirage.

As usual, their entire team had a substantial contribution, while jL and b1t did substantially better than the rest.

The odds here clearly favor the Ukrainians. Even without s1mple, they are more accomplished and have more star players than Eternal Fire. The Turks will likely win one map, but it’s hard to believe that they can win two.

Even with players like XANTARES, MAJ3R, and woxic, who have been around for a long time and know each other well, EF is the underdog.
