Did xQc ghost Turtle Troop?

Content creators’ forays into the esports scene have yielded poor results. Recently, Disguised Toast disbanded its women’s VALORANT team, which only played three matches in less than five days under the team’s banner. Likewise, Felix “xQc” Lengyel, one of the world’s most famous streamers, seems to have ghosted the guys at Turtle Troop.

Several weeks ago, xQc had in mind to sign a professional VALORANT lineup from the Challengers division, specifically Turtle Tropp. This is, as yet, the only team in the NA region with no organization in the NA VCL. However, it seems that everything has changed and, according to Peter “Governor” No, xQc has cheated the team.

xQc stands up the Turtle Troop guys.

In a stream on TSM player Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik’s channel, he asked Governor, one of the members of Turtle Troop, what had happened to the deal with xQc. The NA Challengers division player replied that xQc had ghosted him and his teammates.

In addition, Governor said that the content creator led the team for a month but withdrew from the negotiations without explanation.

As we can hear, Governor stresses that they have already fully signed all contracts and term sheets. However, xQc did not want to go through with the deal at the last minute, leaving Turtle Troop completely stranded.

Turtle Troop’s lineup finished in ninth place in the VCL 2023: NA Split 1. But for a team with no organization, there is no doubt that it was an excellent result. Because of this, the deal between xQc and the team seemed like a win-win for both parties. However, weeks after the report where the creator said he was going to sign this squad of players, rumors started that xQc had not formalized the signing. Undoubtedly, this caused some bewilderment and disappointment in the team.

xQc apologizes via Twitch account

Following these statements by Governor on the Subroza stream, xQc apologized through a live stream on his Twitch account.

According to the content creator, he is currently going through many things. Furthermore, he was surprised and felt embarrassed with the Turtle Troop guys for not communicating properly.

On the other hand, he also pointed out that several things cannot be said live. However, he also mentioned that he was not directly in charge of the negotiation, as everything would have been done through his managers, whom, according to xQc, “he will send to intervene and solve the problem.”

Finally, xQc apologized to the players, promising to pay them a month and a half’s salary for the time they were waiting for the signing of the contracts and officialization. In addition, the content creator pointed out that it is a considerable amount of money and that it could easily be on par with the big organizations.
