The Lone Star State will be hosting Call of Duty League or CDL’s biggest weekend on July 18-21.

This is after the CDL announced OpTic Texas to be the host for the 2024 Call of Duty League Championships at the Credit Union of Texas Event Centre in Allen, Texas.

The CDL Championship is the last tournament of the competitive Call of Duty season. This is the first time the said event will be held in Texas, following events hosted at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, and the iconic Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

COD Esports GM Daniel Tsay said about the announcement,  “The Call of Duty League is one the largest esports ventures in the world and we’re excited to close out our 5th season with our fans in Texas for Champs.”

As in previous tournaments, the Call of Duty League Championships will feature the top 8 best COD franchises, and will compete to win the biggest share of the US$2 million prize pool.

Major sponsors such as Razer, Monster Energy and SCUF will be participating in the event, while Texan brands such as fastfood chain Wingstop, bag brand CordaRoy’s and non-profit regional dairy council Dairy MAX will be part of the tournament, according to a report by Esports Insider.

The said announcement followed on recent developments in the Call of Duty league which incentivizes and subsidizes franchise-hosted events, as well as removing all entry fees for franchises.
