Game Changers Championship: G2, C9, Liquid and Shopify remain alive

As the 2022 VCT Game Changers Championship reaches its halfway point, only four teams are left in contention to become the first female Valorant world champions.

The top eight female Valorant teams from around the world started their journey in the first VCT Game Changers Championship on November 15. Four teams remain in contention to become the first women’s international VALORANT champions after the highly competitive double-elimination bracket matches, while the other four are already out. Europe’s top seed GuildX has shockingly left the tournament, while popular picks like Cloud9 White and G2 Gozen are still surviving.

G2 Gozen enters the Grand Finals undefeated

Despite being the second EMEA seed going into the competition, G2 Gozen were undoubtedly the crowd favorite. The team has so far lived up to the expectations and dominated the opponents throughout the event. In the first round, the team easily defeated X10 Sapphire 2-10 to set up the hotly anticipated face-off against Cloud9 White.

The team lost the first map against C9 but immediately recovered and won the next two maps, Breeze and Pearl, to win the best-of-three series. G2 continued the momentum and secured a handy 2-0 victory over Team Liquid brazil to reach the Grand Final, which is scheduled to take place on November 20. One more win and the European team will be crowned the first VCT Game Changers champions.

Can Cloud9 White complete their lower-bracket run?

C9 White, a six-time Game Changers champion, got things rolling by defeating KRÜ Fem 2-0 in the first match. However, the North American squad was enraged after losing to G2 and being demoted to the lower bracket. In the subsequent game against Guild X, the squad caused mayhem and totally obliterated the top seed of EMEA by a score of 2-0 to eliminate them from the event. The team will now face their biggest North American rival, Shopify Rebellion GC, in another elimination match, where only one NA team can advance to the next round.

Team Liquid Brazil are one step away from the Grand Final

The Brazilian squad came in as the underdog and swept their opponents to advance to the upper-bracket finals while everyone’s attention was on the North American and European teams. The team first thrashed the Japanese team FENNEL Female 2-1 in a close matchup to book their berth in the semifinals against .

Everyone anticipated that would easily defeat the underdogs since the North American team were the overwhelming favorite entering the game. However, Team Liquid stunned the crowd and the seasoned Shopify team by coming back from a 1-0 deficit to win the game 2-1 in a convincing fashion. Now, the team will face the winner of Cloud9 and Shopify in the lower bracket finals following their defeat against G2 Gozen.
