OpTic Gaming defeated XSET in a nail-biting match to qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen. With this victory, OpTic advances to the NA VCT Challengers Stage 2 Grand Finals, while XSET drops to the Lower Bracket Finals.

OpTic continues to outperform the best Valorant teams one after another. Although some of the team members tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the qualification match, the team managed to defeat XSET to advance to the VCT Stage 2 Challengers Grand Final.

While XSET took an early lead in the match, they were unable to capitalize on the momentum and lost by a narrow margin.

XSET vs. OpTic Gaming

On Haven, the best-of-five Upper Bracket Finals began with OpTic gaining the lead right on. The green wall led 7:5 going into the second half, despite XSET’s best efforts to tie the game. XSET, however, rallied with a strong counterattack in the second half, completely changing the course of the game. The team closed the map with a 13:7 victory without losing a single round thanks to strong teamwork and an outstanding effort by Zachary “zekken” Patrone.

At Icebox, XSET kept their momentum and won the pistol round. OpTic, however, struck back in the second round with a spectacular ace from Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker. Before the match entered the second half with XSET leading 7:5, both sides traded several more rounds. OpTic picked up back-to-back rounds and swiftly took the lead. Despite XSET’s heroic attempts in the late game, OpTic managed to win 13:11 and tie the series 1-1.

XSET began the third map on an aggressive note to establish an early lead. Even though they dropped a couple of rounds, the team held the lead the entire half, going into the second half with a 9:3 advantage. However, OpTic once again rebounded, winning four consecutive rounds thanks to yay’s spectacular performance.

The team maintained its lead in the following rounds, pushing XSET to the defensive. By taking two more rounds, XSET put an end to the bloodshed, but yay and Austin “crashies” Roberts continued to blaze a fire until they closed the game by a 13:11 scoreline.

OpTic had a 2-1 series advantage going into Breeze. XSET used an aggressive strategy and went all-in, winning two straight rounds. The team managed to win four more rounds before OpTic took over and closed the map 13:6.

OpTic Gaming will face the winner of FaZe Clan vs. XSET matchup in the Grand Final of the event which is scheduled for June 27. If XSET defeat FaZe clan in today’s lower bracket finals, they will be able to compete internationally for the first time.
