It seems that PGL Wallachia S1 will not happen exactly as intended for some of the teams in the race. Tundra Esports had to be replaced by MOUZ and now we have another news: Malr1ne, the formidable midlaner of Team Falcons, will be replaced by Nine, who is currently teamless.

The former TI champion is no doubt good enough to make a big contribution for Falcons, but the problem is that Dota 2 is a team-based strategy game. Without proper training, even the world’s best teams will lose against a much weaker opponent simply because it cannot execute a coherent game plan with the level of skill required to win.

The reason why Malr1ne will not be able to compete in this tournament is because he’s having visa issues. We don’t know the full details but we do know that he’s Russian while the tournament takes place in Romania, a country located right next to Ukraine.

As for Nine, the German superstar is more than qualified to do a great job and the best-of-three match format might help Falcons quite a bit.

Nine’s Past Results

Nine is best known for his Tundra Esports years. From the start of 2021 until the end of 2023, he competed for this team and achieved a lot of excellent results. Apart from winning The International 2022, he also won ESL One Fall 2021 and placed in the top four at events like ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, DreamLeague S19, and Bali Major 2023.

Nine was the first German player to reach 9000 MMR and has since climbed to much higher levels. His total career winnings from tournaments are above $2 million.

The 25-year-old enjoys playing heroes like Lina and Zeus, but he’s versatile enough to play just about anything.

Team Falcon’s Current Situation

Falcons are the best in Dota 2 right now. Their consistency is absolutely impressive, resembling that of the greatest teams in the history of the game. In the first four tournaments of 2024, they won three times and finished 2nd once.

Nobody wants to face Falcons at the moment because their entire roster is composed of superstars. From the coach Aui_2000, who won The International both as a player and as a coach, to ATF, who is one of the strongest offlaners in the world at the age of 19.

In their first match, Falcons will encounter HEROIC, who are much weaker than them on paper. We’ll have to see how successful they are while playing with a stand-in. If they can’t beat HEROIC, they’re in trouble because most of the remaining competitors are much stronger.
