As part of the one-year anniversary celebration of Valorant’s release in the country, the VCT Masters 2024 will be held in Shanghai, China.

After the huge success of VCT Masters Tokyo, Riot Games has promised another special reward for Valorant’s Asian fan base. The VCT Masters 2024 will be held in Shangai China to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the game’s launch in China. According to VALORANT Esports China, details about the schedule, locations, and the opening of ticket sales will be released prior to the event.

Several major international events have already been held by Riot Games in Shanghai, including the League of Legends World Championship 2020 Shanghai also played host to China’s first offline Valorant competition earlier this month, which served as the country’s qualifying round for Valorant Champions 2023. Moreover, Perfect World and PGL will reportedly hold the second Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2024 in the Chinese city.

Riot’s plan is to shine a much-needed spotlight on China

VALORANT received its official premiere in China on July 12—more than three years after its debut. Chinese fans have shown unprecedented love and support for the release of VALORANT despite the nearly three-year wait. Whalen Rozelle, CEO of Esports at Riot Games, thanked the region for its dedication to Valorant by announcing d that China would soon join the Valorant Champions Tour during the Valorant launch party.

Since February, Tencent’s subsidiary TJ Sports and the top esports players in China have been in talks about establishing the fourth International League in China. The new Chinese Valorant League was scheduled to launch as soon as Tencent made the game available in China, but a delay was anticipated because the conversations were still in the planning stages.

Although the nation doesn’t yet have its own league, Chinese teams have already appeared in a number of international VCT competitions. Last year, EDward Gaming caused a stir by showing up at the world championship with an undefeated East Asia LCQ run. Moreover, China has fielded representatives to both of this year’s international VCT tournaments as well.

Along with FunPlus Phoenix and Bilibili Gaming, Edward Gaming dominated the Chinese qualifiers to earn a seat at VCT Champions 2023. The region can be expected to rank among the top ones in the near future given the quality and talent that Chinese teams are bringing to the table as well as the support that Chinese fans are giving them.
