The Brazilian CS:GO team MIBR claimed the first Champion of Champions Tour title for Central Europe and thus are at the top of the rankings after yesterday’s final against the Russian lineup 1WIN, which also includes the ex-NaVi player Egor “flamie” Vasilyev.

The game was very tight during the first two maps. First MIBR won their map pick Dust2 16-12, after which it went to the pick of 1WIN Vertigo, which ended with 16-13 scoreline for the Russians. The third decider map was Nuke on which MIBR were able to play dominantly. Meanwhile, 1WIN were out of breath and lost 16-6.

Brazilians in Central Europe?!

It might come across as odd that both teams are not from Central Europe, which is due to the slightly misleading wording of the event — only the qualifiers are regional. Pretty much everyone can take part in the main event, so the field of participants was peppered with good teams from the Tier 2 scene. Among others, Falcons, forZe, Copenhagen Flames, Eternal Flame, SKADE, and EC Kyiv competed in the CCT Central Europe Series 1.

While MIBR were definitely one of the favorites, they still gave up some maps. Except for the game against EC Kyiv, where they scored 2-0, they had to go into the third map in their first matches against Tricked and Monte.

Unknown surprises

Monte, the team consisting of mix of nations — two Ukrainians, a Swede, a Bulgarian, and the Jordanian Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas, who was previously with Endpoint — was one full of surprising performances and unexpected results in this tournament. The same goes for the team from the Czech Republic Dynamo Eclot, and team ENTERPRISE esports, which also consists of a mix of nations, specifically two Slovaks, a Romanian, a Bulgarian, and a Czech, all led by a Swede.

Final standings

The top 4 places were occupied by the following teams:

  • 1st place: MIBR ($22,000)
  • 2nd place: 1WIN ($10,000)
  • 3rd-4th place: EC Kyiv ($5,000)
  • 3rd-4th place: Team Falcons ($5,000)

Then came in 5th-8th place ($2,000 each):

  • Dynamo Eclot
  • ENTERPRISE esports
  • forZe
  • Monte

9th-16th place:

  • Eternal Fire
  • Tricked Esport
  • Copenhagen Flames
  • BLUEJAYS
  • SKADE
  • Team Finest
  • Aurora Gaming
  • BeyondPossible

All in all, the tournament did what it was meant to do — provided a stage for unknown players while the biggest favorites compete for points at the top. If Monte, Eclot, or ENTERPRISE continue to diligently collect points, they might end up advancing to the Central Europe Studio LAN, which would, of course, be the perfect Cinderella story we’d all love to see.
