Leaks: VCT Champions 2023 to be held in the USA

After Riot Games established its VALORAN Champions Tour tournaments in Europe, it seems there is good news for fans in North America. According to several reports on different web portals, it is very likely that the VCT Champions 2023 will be played on U.S. soil.

According to a report by Alejandro Gomis, League of Legends and VALORANT reporter and researcher, Riot Games is considering Los Angeles as the city to host the tournament in August. Recall that VCT Champions 2023 is the most important VALORANT tournament each year, i.e., it is the VALORANT World Cup.

Covid-19 affected the VALORANT event development

Riot’s tactical shooter VALORANT has been with us since the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the competitive scene started in an online environment. Moreover, all LAN tournaments of all esports were wholly affected by this virus. Some infected players had to play from their hotels, others from their homes, and many more obstacles.

The VCT decided to hold its first LAN tournament in Reykjavik, Iceland, in a relatively isolated environment, so the players had no contact with each other. Los Angeles is an ideal venue

There is no doubt that Los Angeles will be a promising city if Riot decides to host VCT Champions 2023 on North American soil. Different esports have agreed to hold their tournaments in and around Los Angeles, as it is an ideal city. We have seen how the CDL and even the Overwatch League Grand Finals in November.

Similarly, it does not mean that it is the only place in the United States that can host this tournament. Different significant cities in North America are regular destinations for top-level esports tournaments. For example, the LCS was played in Chicago last season. While the Esports Stadium, located in Arlington, Texas, is also an excellent option.

In addition, the level of teams in the Americas, including all regions (N.A., S.A., and Central America), has increased in recent months. As a result, organizations with solid fan bases would be happy to see VALORANT make its way to their continent.

Despite restrictions on previous events. Berlin, Istanbul, and Reykjavik have been spectacular hosts for VCT events. If confirmed, this information may serve as “motivation” for the North American organizers.

Likewise, this information is not confirmed. It is unknown where the VCT Champions 2023 could be played in Los Angeles. But there is no doubt that the infrastructure exists, as well as the fans and competitive teams.
