ESL has announced the lineups for the IEM Rio Major 2022 show match between teams from Sweden and Brazil, and both rosters feature some of the most iconic names in CS:GO.

The Brazilian team consists of the two-time Major winner who represented SK and Luminosity during their era. The Swedish team, on the other hand, brings together respected names best known for their times at Ninjas in Pajamas and fnatic.

The game will take place on November 13 at 6PM CET before the start of the Grand Final at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

The star Brazilian line-up

All Brazil team members qualified for the Major with their current teams, with Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, Lincoln “fnx” Lau, and Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo representing Imperial at their homeland Major after beating Complexity in an exciting RMR series. Meanwhile, Epitacio “TACO” de Melo and Marcelo “coldzera” David will represent 00NATION, with both teams starting their major runs in the Challenger Stage. None of them had qualified for the PGL Antwerp Major earlier in the year.

Given their form in past tournaments, the chances of Brazilian teams reaching the Major finals are pretty slim. At this point, it’s unclear whether ESL has a back-up plan in case neither reaches the Major’s grand finals. Unlike Team Sweden, all Team Brazil players have qualified for the IEM Rio Major.

Team Brazil will be lined up as follows:

  • Marcelo “coldzera” David
  • Fernando “fer” Alvarenga
  • Lincoln “fnx” Lau
  • Epitacio “TACO” de Melo
  • Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo

The Swedish Legends

The Swedish team consists of former Ninjas in Pajamas trio Adam “friberg” Friberg, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, and Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, who won the ESL One Cologne 2014 Major with the famous Swedish organization. They will be joined by Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer and Jesper “JW” Wecksell, who won back-to-back Majors in Fnatic’s black and orange colors in 2015, with JW also winning the first CS:GO Major – DreamHack Winter 2013.

Team Sweden roster:

  • Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer
  • Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg
  • Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund
  • Adam “friberg” Friberg
  • Jesper “JW” Wecksell

The Showmatch lineup has amassed a total of 18 major titles in their tenure at the helm of CS:GO, with players being part of three different legendary teams. The IEM Rio Major begins on October 31 with the Challengers Stage and ends on November 13 with the show match and grand finals. Don’t miss this legendary match!
