After several days of pressure from the community and some professional players, Treyarch announces that, after a vote, the new Modern Warfare 2 map Himmelmatt Expo will replace Al Bagra Fortress in the CDL Map Pool.

The Ranked mode launched in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 was undoubtedly a great success on the part of the game’s developers. There is no doubt that casual players can enter a battlefield with the same rules, maps, and modes as professionals, have caused a stir that has increased the player base significantly.

On top of that, Ranked mode offers players many extremely enticing rewards as they rank up. As a result, many in the community have returned to the title, which now enjoys great popularity. Indeed, we can see that after the CDL Major III Grand Final match between OpTic Texas and Toronto Ultra broke viewership records.

CDL announces Himmelmatt Expo to replace Al Bagra Fortress in the Map Pool

After several days of intense social media squabbling, professional players and teams have voted to remove Al Bagra Fortress from the Map Pool. In its place will go the new map released in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, Himmelmatt Expo.

As mentioned, being removed from the CDL Map Pool, it is also removed from Ranked Mode, so fans and pros should be very happy with the news.

Himmelmatt Expo has been a hit since its launch over a month ago, and they have been in talks for several weeks to add the map to the Map Pool. However, deciding to change the map at CDL has not been easy.

According to CDL Intel on its Twitter account, a vote was held on February 28 among CDL players and teams to decide whether or not to replace the map. By that time, the result of that vote was that the change would not be made.

The result of the vote was not to the liking of either the community or some players. For example, Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, an Atlanta FaZe player, mentioned in a Tweet his displeasure with the phrase “I tried.”

Why the change in maps?

With the great success Himmelmatt Expo has had since its release, the one map that was not liked by many was Al Bagra Fortress. The reason for this is that it is a very defensive map; that is to say, it is a map that has a total imbalance in the games, and the teams that are on the defensive side have the biggest advantage to take the victory.

There is no doubt that this type of match is not the most popular, as we all like action and fast games.

So far, there are only rumors about the teams that have voted to remove Al Bagra Fortress from the Map Pool; there is talk of teams like LA Thieves, Atlanta FaZe, Las Vegas Legion, and OpTic Texas. However, the votes were completely anonymous, and it is impossible to know.

The result of this decision can be seen starting this weekend when the online qualifiers for Major IV are played. Undoubtedly, this will add an extra ingredient to the games, as teams may not have enough time to practice it, so anything could happen.
