Fnatic confirm Oscarinin will miss the match against Team BDS

Just because Fnatic won the match against Excel Esports and secured their ticket to South Korea for Worlds 2023 doesn’t mean it’s all good news for the team. After learning of Oscar “Oscarinin” Muñoz’s hand injury, the British organization gave an update. It announced that the Spaniard will undergo surgery and will miss the match against Team BDS.

Undoubtedly, this is hard news for the team and the fans, as Oscarinin had been one of the team’s pillars in this late-season revival. However, we believe it is a wise decision, as, besides taking care of the player’s health, Oscarinin could be ready to return to action before Worlds 2023.

Fnatic confirm the extent of Oscarinin’s injury

Through a post on their Twitter account, Fnatic shared the extent of Oscarinin’s hand injury and said he would undergo surgery and not play against Team BDS. As a result, Fnatic has to dip into their reserve roster, and the chosen one is the experienced Martin “Wunder” Hansen.

To provide an update, @OscarininXD suffered a hand injury earlier last week, which many of you noticed during yesterday’s match.

Whilst he performed unaffected yesterday, Oscar will have surgery early this week, and as a consequence, will sadly miss our series vs BDS.

Undoubtedly, after securing the TOP 4 in the LEC Season Finals 2023, Fnatic will suffer a terrible loss after learning that Oscarinin must undergo surgery on his right hand. The Spaniard was key in Fnatic’s win over Excel Esports in the playoffs opener for the team, and even, with his hand practically immobile, he signed an amazing Pentakill.

Fnatic play without Oscarinin in an important game

While it is true that the first goal of Fnatic is already fulfilled, as being inside the TOP 4 ensures them, at least, to dispute the playoff to the Worlds in South Korea, there is still a much more important match to play. Fnatic vs. Team BDS on September 3 leaves us the third team directly qualified for the Worlds. As a result, the team will have to adapt its ideas and strategies to Wunder’s experience and veteran status.

If the British squad fails against Team BDS, they play the playoff match against Golden Guardians of the LCS hours before the start of Worlds 2023 in South Korea. On the contrary, if Fnatic wins this match, it qualifies directly to the Play-In Phase of Worlds 2023.

Finally, Wunder is no stranger to this Fnatic lineup, as let’s remember that he was in it during the first months of the season. In addition, Wunder is one of the most legendary Top Laners in the EMEA scene, so experience is what this player has plenty of.
