According to a report, the French esports agency, ARC is suing superstar AD carry Steven “Hans Sama” Liv for alleged breach of contract.

According to a report from esports journalist Jacob Wolf, Athletes Representation & Consulting (ARC) is reportedly suing the French AD carry Steven “Hans Sama” Liv for alleged breach of contract.  According to reports, the alleged breach of contract occurred during the player’s move to Team Liquid from Rogue in late 2021, when he decided to move to North America and leave the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC). The French agency, ARC, alleged that Hans Sama breached his contract by working with a competing agency and not paying a portion of his commissions during his time with the European organization in the same year.

Why ARC sued Hans Sama?

The idea of selling Hans Sama’s contract to a North American team before it expired in 2022 had been brought up by ARC and Rogue as the 2021 season was drawing to a close. Rogue and ARC began the discussion with Cloud9, who were open to the buyout and even willing to discuss a new compensation with the French AD carry. Despite all the benefits and the substantial buyout money the organization was willing to pay for him, Hans Sama supposedly did not want to play with Cloud9.

Proxy, a new esports agency, reportedly entered the picture when ARC was attempting to negotiate a deal with Team Liquid, another North American organization interested in Hans. Despite the fact that Hans already had an exclusive representation agreement with ARC, the rival agency Proxy secured him a contract with Team Liquid. Despite Cloud9’s bigger offer, Rogue accepted a lower buyout sum from Team Liquid since Hans preferred to be a part of Liquid’s superteam. ARC was supposed to be his exclusive representative, entitled to 5% of the 2021 buyout transaction, but Hans Sama worked with Proxy instead, violating the contract provisions with ARC.

“As we were unable to reach an amicable agreement with Steven, we were forced to bring the matter before a civil court for an independent third party to assess the situation,” ARC founder Nathan Laprade said to Jacob Wolf Report.

Hans Sama and Proxy, on the other hand, haven’t responded to the report whereas the case proceeds to court. This year appears to be only getting worse for the French ADC, who found himself without a squad after the North American dream team fell short of expectations and failed to qualify for Worlds. Since the professional season concluded, he has been associated with several European rosters, including the well-known LEC team G2 Esports, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.
