RSG Slate SG won the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Singapore championship for the third time in a row after defeating Team Flash 4-1 in the championship game on Sunday.

After defeating Team Flash 4-1, RSG Slate SG has named the MPL Singapore champion and took home S$30,000 in prize money. With this victory, RSG Slate SG, which had already been hailed as the winners of MPL SG Seasons 3 and 4, became Singapore’s champions for a record-breaking three seasons in a row. This feat is unprecedented in MLBB history. RSG Slate SG’s triumph at Suntec City also guaranteed them a spot in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023, which will also include teams from North America, Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa.

RSG Slate’s journey in MPL Singapore S5

RSG Slate SG began the competition without a hitch and continued to play well throughout the regular season. The reigning champion had a very strong run up until the final week of the regular season when Bleed Esports managed to deliver the only upset to them. Both teams were able to tie the match at 2-2, but Bleed had the advantage in the following round thanks to a strong four-man push that allowed them to claim a stunning victory and hand the eventual champions their first and only defeat in the event.

RSG finished first in the standings with a match score of 6-1 and 18 points despite losing a game. RSG Slate SG continued their unbeaten streak during the playoff round, beginning with their 2-0 victory over Team Flash in the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals, which sent the underdogs to the lower brackets.

RSG faced their most fierce rivals Bleed Esports, which has MPL SG Seasons finalist Slate, in the Upper Bracket Final. Despite heavy resistance from Bleed Esports, RSG Slate managed to win the game 3-2. Team Flash did not put up much of a fight in the Grand Finals; they played against RSG with weaker macro, mechanics, and experience and seemed hopeless the entire time.

The aggressive performance of gold laner Fawzan “Okky” Herdiatna, who took home the MVP prize in the grand final, ultimately led to Flash’s destruction. Flash lost three straight games before recovering to win game 4 with their unconventional picks. Flash’s comeback attempt was thwarted by RSG Slate, as they secure round five to win the MPL SG championship for a third straight season. Team Flash, on the other hand, will have to make do with S$19,500, but this was still their greatest MPL SG result to date.
