Discontent has recently spread in the world of Fortnite. Following the introduction of Rocket Racing, a mode inspired by the fast-paced action of the game Rocket League, new car skins were suddenly available for purchase in the Item Shop. However, many players were upset that these skins were so expensive and felt that the prices were not justified.

The immense popularity of Fortnite continues, and the game continues its success by attracting record numbers of players. This is also thanks to the recently introduced Season OG, a partnership with Eminem and the new LEGO Fortnite feature. However, despite all the innovations and successes, the prices of the latest skins are causing discussion among fans and many players are very annoyed and have criticized Epic Games.

Fortnite in the crossfire after Epic Games releases high-priced car skins

There was a veritable wave of outrage on social media triggered by the release of the new car skins in Fortnite. Players have had a lot to say about the cost of the cosmetic car bundles. The bundles, which range from 2,500 to 4,000 V-Bucks, a price range that translates to around 20 to 40 dollars per bundle in real currency, were not particularly well received.

Given these prices for car skins, some players have expressed their frustration in comments and heavily criticized Epic Games. The emphasis is on the considerable outlay required for these cosmetics, compared to other in-game content, for the same amount that could have bought four Battle Passes. It is questionable whether the investment in these bundles, which include different body skins for vehicles, 48 different body colors and 6 different stickers, is justified. One thing is certain, however: the new “Rocket Racing” mode, which is available free of charge, shows that Epic Games is also giving out free content to the community.

Where do these high prices come from and who is to blame?

Many players have noticed that the prices for cosmetics have risen in recent years and that there is no end in sight. Some people in the community are now asking themselves: Who is responsible for this and who is to blame?Who actually sets these prices? Is it perhaps even the fault of the players, many of whom are already willing to pay these far too inflated prices? Or are the developers and the companies guilty with their greed for money and should be held accountable?

One can only hope that this trend will eventually reverse and that the players hope that Epic Games has heard the complaints, because the majority of the community is not prepared to spend so much money on cosmetics.
