After much controversy in the last few hours, the former Old G lineup will be part of PuckChamp for the upcoming DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division II.

There is no doubt that this news was expected, as it was only a matter of time before high-caliber players found a new home within the Dota 2 competitive scene. Also, they are very lucky that PuckChamp recently announced the departure of all their players, so the guys can continue playing together for the remainder of the season.

Now, under the PuckChamp name, former Old G players can play in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division II.

Former Old G players to play under the PuckChamp banner

While it is true that the organization has not made any official statement, on the official Dota 2 rosters page, we can see how the former Old G players have registered under the PuckChamp banner.

With this, the PuckChamp lineup for the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division II is as follows:

  • Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko
  • Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen
  • Sébastien “Ceb” Debs
  • Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi
  • Adam “Aramis” Moroz

The great level recently demonstrated by Aramis, who played the DreamLeague S19 as a substitute in Tundra Esports, is worth noting.

Recall that this move comes from Old G players deciding to leave the team after the PGL announced the team’s disqualification from the DPC Summer Tour.

This disqualification came after Old G lost its match, precisely against PuckChamp, for not presenting a valid lineup of four players. As a result, Old G lost its place in the DPC Division II. However, this loss was because two of the team’s players had traveled to the Berlin Major 2023 as substitutes, so they could not participate in the match.

Afterward, Ceb, one of the most well-known players in the Dota 2 scene, charged the PGL and one of the administrators, forcing the organizers to disqualify them from the DPC Summer Tour.

The former Old G members will now play for their “tormentor,” PuckChamp, in the DPC Division II.

The community reacts to this announcement

After it became known that former Old G players registered as PuckChamp in DPC Division II, several streamers reacted and gave their opinions. Max “qojqva” Bröcker, one of the most well-known Dota 2 content creators, mentioned that the PGL must be “frustrated” to see that they will see the Old G guys playing under another name. On the other hand, Qojqva points out that Ceb “threw money at it,” and all the problems disappeared.

Another community member reacting to this situation was Gorgc, who stated that paying for a spot they could have earned by playing in the playoffs must be very hard. He further alleges that Ceb paid around $10,000 for the spot.

Like these, many more community members have decided to give their point of view on the situation, as neither Old G nor PuckChamp have offered an official statement announcing the details of this move. It is still unclear if Old G purchased PuckChamp’s Division II slot or if the players signed with the team.
