Florida Mutineers has decided to release four members of the starting lineup along with a substitute to rebuild their roster from scratch. The organization will start fresh and enter the 2023 Call of Duty League with a new squad, with David “Davpadie” Maslowski perhaps remaining in the mix.

Prior to the start of the new CDL season, Florida Mutineers have opted to update their roster. Joseph “Owakening” Conley, Michael “MajorManiak” Szymaniak, Brendan “2ReaL” Stockdale, and substitute Christian “Yeez” Faircloth will no longer be part of the team, while Davpadie’s future with the organization is still up in the air.

According to Florida General Manager Tom “OGRE2” Ryan, Skyz, Owakening, and Yeez were anticipated to become free agents regardless of the decision as their contracts were set to expire on August 22. Florida, however, decided not to exercise the team options on MajorManiak and 2ReaL, the duo signed in June ahead of the final Major of the season.

The move comes after the team registered back-to-back unsuccessful seasons in the CDL. Florida Mutineers failed to maintain momentum following their remarkable performance at 2022 CDL Stage Two Major, which resulted in a fourth-place finish. They took an early exit from the 2022 CDL Stage Three Major after a disheartening 1-3 loss against Toronto Ultra in the bottom bracket.

Similar outcomes were seen in their final competition together, the CDL Stage Four Major, where the squad finished in 5th-6th place. With no chance to make CDL Champs, Florida Mutineers failed to achieve any major success and spent the majority of the 2022 season at the bottom of the CDL Points Standing.

NYSL reportedly eyeing Skyz

Both Ian “Crimsix” Porter and Paul “PaulEhx” Avila anticipate that New York Subliners will add Cesar “Skyz” Bueno to their roster. Since Skyz was reportedly seen playing VALORANT together with NYSL’ Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez during the entire season, there is an expectation inside the CDL community that both pros will be on the New York Subliners team together. If the reports are accurate, NYSL will only need to find two additional players of the same caliber to compete alongside Skyz and HyDra in order to create a strong lineup in advance of the 2023 CDL season.

On the other hand, Owakening and MajorManiak should be able to get a place in a starting lineup given their success in the Modern Warfare season, which is beneficial for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2. Meanwhile, 2ReaL may struggle to find a starting spot in the CDL, which would leave him with two options: either land a substitute spot at the CDL or begin competing in Challengers next year. Regardless, fans will have to wait until August 22 to learn about his future in the league, since teams cannot sign players to new deals before then. The revised rosters of the Florida Mutineers will be made public in the upcoming month.
