The biggest favorites in group C of ESL Pro League S19, MOUZ and Team Liquid, have qualified for the playoffs of the tournament after just two rounds of matches. Both of them won their first two battles but only with great effort, determination, and a bit of luck.

In the case of MOUZ, the challenges were fewer. In truth, they were only seriously tested on the second map of the second match, when GamerLegion managed to force overtime. But Liquid needed three maps to win against FURIA Esports and then had a very tough match against Monte.

MOUZ’s Victories

MOUZ started ESL Pro League S19 with a 2 – 0 victory against Bad News Kangaroos. The Australians didn’t stand much of a chance against one of the world’s best teams, winning just 3 rounds on Vertigo and 8 on Mirage. The entire MOUZ roster finished the match with excellent scores and ratings 2.0 ranging from 1.18 to 1.68.

In the second match of the tournament, MOUZ played against GamerLegion and won 2 – 0 again. But this time, after winning the first map 13 – 1, they struggled on the second map and won only after overtime: 16 – 12. Their best player was Brollan, who finished the match with an individual score of 41 – 22.

Liquid’s Victories

Team Liquid started with a victory against FalleN’s team. This result was partly expected because FURIA changed their IGL just a few weeks ago and signed a very young player who will need months to adapt. However, despite the favorable result, Liquid still lost the first map 13 – 9. On the next two maps, they only managed to win in the second half.

The entire roster played well, which is a good sign going forward.

In the second match, played against Monte, the scores were 22 – 19 on Ancient and 13 – 11 on Mirage. This was a very intense battle and Liquid would have lost without cadiaN’s phenomenal performance. Despite being the IGL, he had the best rating 2.0 of all Liquid’s players and a score of 46 – 42.

Thanks to this victory, Liquid will have the opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals directly. But to do that, they will need to beat MOUZ, which will be very difficult to accomplish. If they succeed against such a high-ranked opponent, it’s clear that Liquid are on their way to becoming one of the world’s best teams again.
