MPL Philippines officials have cleared ONIC Philippines from any allegations or involvement in gambling.

This is after the league found no evidence to prove that the team, the management, and its players are involved in any illegal activities, as opposed to the screenshots that were being circulated on social media.

In a statement, the league said, “The screenshots were manipulated and there was no such message trail that shows an attempt to do gambling,” and that “there were no financial records to prove that the alleged gambling activity pushed through.”

They also called the accusations “baseless,” saying they vehemently denounce any attempt by anyone to besmirch the name of the team and the league.

“We appeal to our community to avoid these false allegations towards any MPL Philippines teams,” MPL Philippines says. “Moreover, MPL Philippines seeks to uphold professionalism and will not condone any activities that will compromise the integrity of the tournament. Together, let us keep supporting our teams and combat gambling in PH MLBB esports,” the statement said.

Tiebreaker Times reported that ONIC PH’s management also cooperated with league officials by listening to the in-game communications of the team against Minana EVOS.

“They agreed that there was no trace of conversation between ONIC players about intentionally losing the match,” Tiebreaker Times reported.

“It’s clear that the screenshots were fabricated,” ONIC Philippines head coach Tony “Ynoy” Senedrin told Tiebreaker Times. “It’s something that’s not connected with the game. That’s why we’re thankful to the management and the social media team because they automatically called out that type of fake news so our team can focus on the games they need to focus on.”
