BloodThirstyKings or BTK won the Spring edition of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s tournament in North America, the North American Challenger Tournament or NACT 2024.
BTK defeated the newly formed Gaimin Gladiators MLBB team last May 12 in a thrilling 4-3 match which saw BTK win their 2nd Spring title, the first being in NACT Spring 2023.
Although BTK claimed victory in their first head-to-head against GG during the regular season, GG proved to be the more consistent team, suffering only that one defeat. Both teams showcased their prowess in the playoffs, marching undefeated into the upper bracket finals, where GG emerged victorious in a stunning display. This, however, was not the end of their rivalry.
In the Lower Bracket finals, BTK clashed with Area 77, a formidable team bolstered by three players from the Philippines. The intense matchup saw BTK initially falling two games behind. Area 77’s resilient comeback tied the series, but BTK’s experience ultimately prevailed as they clinched the decisive game, advancing to the grand final for another showdown with GG.
In an epic seven-game series, BTK and GG were neck and neck, but BTK held their nerve to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory and claim the championship. Gaimin Gladiators took game #1 in a nearly 15-minute classic, but BTK was able to win back Game 2 of the series.
By game 3 and 4, one more back-and-forth ensued between both squads, and GG was able to take Game 5.
However, BTK was able to slow down the overall pace of the match by hosting a nearly 30-minute Game 6, which they were able to win. The momentum also shifted completely to BTK as a result, winning the series and punching their ticket to the 2024 Mid-Season Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia as part of the Esports World Cup.
With the win, BTK will serve as the NA region’s representative to the 2024 MSC, and may have a shot at winning the lion’s share of the US$3 million prize pool.
