The group stage of ESL Pro League S19 is finally over and the winner is not Natus Vincere, as we expected, but Complexity.

Na’Vi were very close to winning but unfortunately for them, they dropped the ball in the second half of the third map in the upper bracket Final. From leading 5 – 7, they lost 13 – 8, essentially losing the second half 8 – 1.

Despite this defeat, Na’Vi will compete in the playoffs of the tournament and start in the Round of 12. There, they will face a lot of tough opposition and might end up getting eliminated in the very first match. Most likely, their opponent will be FaZe Clan. If they win, they will face Team Vitality next, and then Astralis or Team Liquid in the semifinals.

For Complexity, it’s the exact opposite. They will start in the quarterfinals and face a much weaker opponent, regardless of who wins in the Round of 12. GamerLegion, Virtus.pro, and The MongolZ are the candidates. Based on what we’ve seen so far, The MongolZ have the highest chance of advancing.

Complexity’s Group Stage Results

Complexity started ESL Pro League S19 with a victory against Pera Esports, an organization that hasn’t achieved anything until this point in CS2. But, thanks to their victory in one of the qualifiers for EPL S19, they were able to compete against some of the world’s best teams and actually won a match against Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Against Complexity, they played much better than expected. Despite losing 2 – 0, they won 11 rounds on Anubis and 9 rounds of Vertigo.

The next match for EliGE and his crew was against HEROIC, a team with high ambitions and a decent global rank: 10th. The Danes won the first map but Complexity won the next two. The scores were 5 – 13, 13 – 11, and 13 – 7.

In the upper bracket Final, iM and his team could not defeat the NA squad, which gave Complexity a surprising and well-deserved victory. The only problem is that they obtained that victory in what was arguably the weakest group in the tournament. Apart from Natus Vincere, nobody in this group is among the favorites.
