Team Whales and PSG Talon advance to Worlds 2023 Play-In Stage Round 2

The Worlds 2023 Play-In Stage is in full swing, and after a few days of competition, we already know two teams that will be in the Play-In Stage Round 2 of the tournament. We are talking about Team Whales and PSG TALON, which secured their qualification to the next tournament stage after winning their first two games of these Play-Ins.

On the part of PSG Talon, there is no doubt that it was expected because they are a team that used to be in defining instances in the Worlds. However, Team Whales surprised everyone by beating Team BDS in their first match and then CTBC Flying Oyster. In addition, it is worth noting that Team Whales won both matches by reverse sweep and, above all, demonstrating an extraordinary level of play.

As a result, Team Whales and PSG are just one BO5 away from saying present at the Swiss Stage of Worlds 2023.

Team Whales and PSG Talon qualify for Round 2

PSG Talon was drawn in Group A with LOUD, GAM Esports, and Raimbow7, as we can see, two South American teams and one from Vietnam. As a result, we all expected the Taiwanese squad to comfortably advance to Round 2 of the Worlds 2023 Play-In Phase, and they did just that.

In their first match, PSG defeated R7 2-0, winning the games in 28:38 and 30:21 minutes, respectively. In addition, we have to highlight Huang “Maple” Yi-tang, who was the MVP of the match with a K/D/A of 8/1/15, a CSM of 8.8, and a DPM of 713.

Then, in the Winners Match, they took on LOUD, where Yu “JunJia” Chun-chia and Maple led PSG to a solid 2-0 victory in 32:56 and 32:16 minutes.

On the other hand, we have Team Whales surprised in their first match of this Play-In Phase by beating Team BDS, the fourth LEC representative in Worlds 2023. In this match, Trần “Bean J” Văn Chính won the series MVP by finishing with a K/D/A of 6/6/21.

Finally, Team Whales applied another reverse sweep in their second match against CFO. However, this time, it was Lê “Glory” Ngọc Vinh and Trần “Artemis” Quốc Hưng who stepped up to lead their team to victory to qualify for Round 2 of this Worlds 2023 Play-In phase.
