The emotions of the BLAST Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023 continue. In this opportunity, Complexity Gaming took a step forward to demonstrate their quality by beating Evil Geniuses and thus securing their ticket to the tournament’s semifinals.

There is no doubt that this is just another sign that Complexity is at a good level of play. In addition, it is also worth mentioning that it was a team effort, as none of the lineup stars had to carry the team.

On the other hand, this is yet another disappointment for the popular North American organization Evil Geniuses, who have had many problems throughout 2023. So they proved it again in this match against COL.

Now, without further ado, let’s see what happened in the match between Complexity and Evil Geniuses on October 6, 2023.

Complexity Gaming apply a clean sweep against Evil Geniuses

Undoubtedly, we all expected Complexity to take the win in this series. However, Evil Geniuses fought from start to finish and came close to winning both maps. But their efforts fell short and got blown out with a dreadful 0-2 score.

The series took place on Inferno and Overpass.

Inferno

It all started on Inferno, the Evil Geniuses map pick, where we enjoyed a really exciting match from start to finish. However, COL prevailed to take a close 16-14 victory.

In the first half, EG’s offense surprised everyone by displaying a really good approach and managed to take the partial victory by 8-7. However, this stayed there as, at the change of sides, they could only win 6 of the 15 rounds played and ended up conceding the map by 14-16.

Overpass

Next, the teams moved to Overpass, Complexity’s map pick, where things were very different. However, Complexity turned the tide of the match and took a win for the second map in a row, 16-14.

In the first half, Evil Geniuses started with an exceptional level of play on their CT Side thanks to Paytyn “junior” Johnson and Jeorge “Jeorge” Endicott to take an excellent and resounding 12-3 partial victory. Thanks to this, we assume that the third map of the series is to be taken into play.

However, Complexity didn’t think the same way, as they started coming back gradually without making much noise. From one moment to the next, the match drew 14-14. Then, 2 rounds later, Complexity secure a place in the semifinal of the tournament thanks to a spectacular comeback.
