After rumors in recent days regarding the signing of Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker by a VCT team, we can now confirm that these were 100% true, as the VALORANT Best Player of 2022 signed with Bleed Esports to play the VCT 2024.

This marks a big jump in yay’s career as he leaves North America to play in the VCT Pacific League with Bleed Esports. Furthermore, it may be a somewhat unexpected move by many, considering yay could have joined any other NA or EMEA squad. However, everything seems to indicate that, due to the organization’s financial problems, this could not happen.

Bleed Esports announce yay’s signing for VCT 2024

Through a post on its Twitter/X account, Bleed Esports announced the signing of yay ahead of the 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour season.

yay’s contract with Bleed Esports is for two years, the same length of time that the VCT Ascension Pacific 2023 winning team will be at the top level of the VCT. In addition, this brings one of the best players on the planet to an unknown region, where he will have to measure himself against very strong teams like ZETA DIVISION, DRX, and Paper Rex.

Yay was very excited about his arrival at Bleed Esports, as he mentioned that the style and level of play in this region appeal to him. In addition, he wants to take advantage of this great opportunity to develop his game a little more because, just like South America, the Pacific region is widely known for an aggressive style of play.

On the other hand, yay also mentioned the “financial problems” that organizations in North America have, one of the reasons why he decides to move to Singapore to play with Bleed Esports. Also, let’s remember that some rumors pointed out that yay had a high salary in his stint with Cloud9, and even Christine “Potter” Chi claimed that yay earned approximately $60,000 per month.

Yay happy for a “friendly” environment

Similarly, yay is very happy about this move. He will be in a “friendly” environment and away from his previous teams and teammates, who, according to the American player, were a “bit toxic.”

Likewise, yay is aware that the adaptation period will not be quick since a team has just been promoted to the VCT and is a new region. As a result, the American stated that the team does not expect to “win” any major trophy immediately but will work hard for it.g

This announcement ends all the speculation about yay’s future that has been going on for the past few days. According to different reports, yay was playing with an account under the pseudonym “zommy” and with Derrick “Deryeon” Yee, one of his teammates in Bleed Esports. Finally, yay said that it took a lot to delay this announcement, as he was recognized by the VALORANT community in Singapore and, in addition, he could not use the voice chat in ranked games.
