Day 1 of BetBoom Dacha featured four beautiful matches in which some of the world’s best Dota 2 teams showed us what can be achieved on the new patch and how we’re supposed to use the current meta in our favor.

The matches were best-of-two, but only one of them ended in a draw. The other three finished with a clear victory for one of the two sides. By far, the most dominant win was obtained by Gaimin Gladiators, who managed to beat 9Pandas in just 58 minutes.

BetBoom Team vs. Team Secret: 1-1

Clement “Puppey” Ivanov made excellent use of Sumail “Sumail” Hassan’s talents in this confrontation and won the first game with a Storm Spirit mid. The rest of his draft was made up of both old and new heroes, such as Keeper of the Light, Razor, Doom, and Dark Seer.

Puppey isn’t entirely convinced by the new emerging meta from what we can tell, so he’s using a very unique approach to drafting. So far, it seems to be working well for him, at least in some of the games.

In game 2 of the match, Secret picked Sven and Ember Spirit, two of the defining 7.34 meta heroes, but lost to an Invoker, a Techies, and a Legion Commander.

Evil Geniuses vs. TSM: 0-2

EG were supposed to be the stronger side in this match but they got absolutely crushed by TSM. The South Americans tried to use the good-old Ancient Apparition plus Earthshaker combo, which helped the 2015 EG roster to win The International. But they failed with it.

TSM’s Gyrocopter grew too fast and had too much support from Venge, Rubick, and Brewmaster.

In game 2, another Sven attempt was crushed by a lineup that had enough mobility to kite him around.

Nigma Galaxy vs. beastcoast: 0-2

Nigma felt lost from the start. The first 15 minutes of game 1 were a complete disaster for them and beastcoast won in just 28 minutes. Game 2 was a bit more contested but in the end, Nigma couldn’t succumbed to the mounting gold advantage of the enemy side.

9Pandas vs. Gaimin Gladiators: 0-2

This was supposed to be the most exciting match of the day, but Gladiators simply destroyed their opponents using heroes like Medusa, Invoker, Pangolier, and Bristleback. Their game 1 draft was very unusual and utilized Invoker as the position 4.
