The group stage of the Bali Major is over and for a lot of teams, the TI12 direct invite dream is dead. Their only remaining option is to win the regional qualifier or to at least finish 2nd in it.

For most of the 12 teams that qualified for the playoffs of the Bali Major, the result is relatively insignificant. Sure, it’s always a pleasant feeling to win some tournament around $12.500-$200.000 in prize money. But what is that compared to the amounts offered at Riyadh Masters 2023 and The International 12?

Group A results

In both groups of the Bali Major, the top four teams had identical scores:

  • 12 W – 4 L
  • 10 W – 6 L
  • 10 W – 6 L
  • 10 W – 6 L

In group A, the teams that qualified for the upper bracket of the playoffs were these:

  • Team Liquid
  • Beastcoast
  • Tundra Esports
  • Team Aster

Few people would have expected beastcoast and Aster to finish in the top four. But, luckily for Team Spirit and Shopify Rebellion, they managed to at least finish in the top six and advance to the playoffs. There’s only one more match that they will need to win there is they want to finish in the top eight.

Right now, both of them are qualified for TI12, so there’s not that much pressure on their shoulders.

The teams that got eliminated were Blacklist International, Execration, and Invictus Gaming.

Group B results

In group B, the winner was Quest Esports. Nobody would have predicted this result ahead of the tournament. But this Western European squad proved to be exceptionally strong and only got defeated in the 8th round of matches. The team that finally managed to teach them a lesson was PSG.LGD.

  • Quest Esports
  • BetBoom Team
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • PSG.LGD
  • 9Pandas
  • Azure Ray

Azure Ray clinched their qualification spot at the very last moment. They defeated nouns in the 8th round and then won the tiebreaker against Bleed Esports. Even so, their odds of getting a top-8 result are quite slim because they’ll need to beat a very strong team in the first round of the lower bracket.

For BetBoom and PSG.LGD, what happens next will matter a lot in determining their TI12 status. If they finish in the top-8, both of them will get direct invites to The International 12. Otherwise, they might get surpassed Aster or even Quest, if they win the tournament.
