The fifth and final day of VCT Americas week 4 has come to a close, and there were some exciting matches to round out the week’s action.

In one of the standout matches, Cloud9 emerged victorious against FURIA, propelling them into the second position on the points table. NRG Esports also secured an important win over KRÜ, solidifying their position in a safe zone in the standings. Unfortunately for KRÜ, they continue to struggle and went another week without a win.

Lets’s recap with the 5th day of VCT League in the Americas region:

Cloud9 outshines FURIA comprehensively

Cloud9’s recent roster changes seem to have paid off, as the team has regained its momentum with an impressive record of four wins and only one loss in the league. Their latest victory was against the formidable FURIA, which made the win even more impressive.

Ascent

FURIA began the Ascent on the attack, but unfortunately, they were unable to capitalize on their own map pick, leading to a disappointing first-half score of 9-3 in favor of Cloud9. Despite the hopes of their fans for a comeback in the second half, it was clear that Cloud9 had other plans, as they quickly closed out the match with a final score of 13-8. In particular, Nathan “leaf” Orf of Cloud9 delivered an outstanding performance on Jett, racking up an impressive 25 kills with a staggering 321 ACS.

Fracture

As the teams moved on to the second map of Fracture, FURIA seemed to have regained their footing compared to the first map, managing to keep pace with Cloud9 to achieve a balanced score of 6-6 at halftime. However, the tide turned in the second half as Cloud9 secured five consecutive rounds, effectively breaking FURIA’s morale. Despite showing some resilience, FURIA was ultimately unable to mount a comeback, and Cloud9 closed out the map with a solid 13-9 victory.

NRG Esports overcomes KRÜ Esports

In the last match of the day, the North American representative NRG emerged victorious against Chile’s KRÜ Esports. Given their stronger record on paper, it was no surprise that NRG was able to capitalize on their advantage and secure a crucial win in the points table.

Haven

NRG made the most of their map pick by dominating the first half, securing eight rounds, and putting tremendous pressure on KRÜ. Although the second half was closely contested, with both teams exchanging rounds, NRG managed to maintain their composure and ultimately closed out the map by conceding only 2 rounds, making for a decisive 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

Ascent

Moving on to the second map of Ascent, NRG continued to dominate the series with a commanding performance. The first half ended with a resounding 9-3 lead in favor of NRG, putting KRÜ under immense pressure to mount a comeback in the second half. Unfortunately for KRÜ, NRG showed no signs of giving up, securing four more rounds to finish the map with a commanding 13-4 scoreline.

The fifth week of the VCT America League will commence from April, 30 onwards when NRG Esports will be up against 100 Thieves.
