Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken has parted ways with FaZe Clan, currently the leading team in the world. At the age of 24, he leaves FaZe after the team climbed to the top following the release of CS2. There are rumors that a return to Liquid is imminent, but this has not been officially confirmed.

Twistzz shared that his colleagues already knew that his last tournament was IEM Sydney. He emphasized his close ties to the team and the organization and expressed his pride should he wear the FaZe jersey again in the future.

Twistzz parts ways with FaZe despite massive success

In a statement, the Canadian explained: “Before IEM Sydney started, the team knew I was leaving. I knew it would be a last dance, but I could never have predicted the success that followed”

“I have made friends for life in this team and in this organization, and if the opportunity arose again, I would be proud to wear a FaZe jersey once more.”

“I know the decision might come as a shock to some. I will reveal more at a later date, but for now I can say that I am ready to take on a new challenge.”

However, it is still unclear what these challenges will look like.

What’s next for the player?

According to some rumors, Twistzz will soon join Liquid, where he will be part of a rebuild that could also include Casper “cadiaN” Møller, Felipe “skullz” Medeiros and coach Wilton “zews” Prado.

During his time with FaZe from January 2021 onwards, he collected numerous titles with the European team, including the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and the Intel Grand Slam Season 4. After a slow end to the CS:GO era, FaZe, under the leadership of Finn “karrigan” Andersen, improved significantly in CS2, winning tournaments such as IEM Sydney, the Thunderpick World Championship and the CS Asia Championship.

The end of FaZe’s 18-game winning streak came at the hands of Team Vitality, who beat them in the BLAST Fall Final. This was Twistzz’s last appearance for FaZe, who will now have to find a replacement before their next appearance in the BLAST World Final, which starts on December 13th.

FaZe’s current line-up is as follows:

  • Finn “karrigan” Andersen
  • Helvijs “broky” Saukants
  • Robin “ropz” Kool
  • Håvard “rain” Nygaard
  • Coach: Filip “NEO” Kubski

It is still unclear who will replace Twistzz in the FaZe lineup. However, the future player will have big shoes to fill.
