Troll Warlord’s popularity is on the rise. Dota 2 patch 7.34 has changed the meta completely and physical damage heroes are becoming increasingly strong. Under these circumstances, Troll is one of the best options because he can win a 1v1 against almost any other carry.

Another thing that happened in patch 7.34 was the introduction of several buffs for this hero. Both of his Whirling Axes abilities are now available simultaneously. Casting one of them will switch the hero’s attack style accordingly. This is very useful for beginners because it makes Troll much easier to play.

The ranged Whirling Axes ability now deals 140 damage at level 4 instead of 90, which is a big early game buff.

By far, the strongest buff offered to Troll Warlord by IceFrog in Dota 2 patch 7.34 is the Fervor upgrade. Buying Aghanim’s Shard increases the maximum number of stacks by 4. It also gives Troll 20% + 3% chance per stack to throw an additional ranged attack. This attack will be thrown at a unit within the typical attack range + 175 radius.

Strengths of Troll Warlord

Troll is an amazing hero because he becomes powerful very early on. He’s quite strong in the laning phase, having the ability to attack in two ways: melee and ranged. This makes him perfect against heroes like Dark Seer, who can be extremely annoying to deal with.

As soon as he gets some items, Troll will quickly bash and kill a target if the opposing side doesn’t cooperate very well. This makes the hero highly effective in the low MMR brackets. But he can also be played at the highest level. We’ve recently seen him picked numerous times in the regional qualifiers for The International 12.

At the community level, Troll’s win rate is 52% and his pick rate is 7%. But he will become more popular very soon. A lot of new players don’t pick him simply because they’re not comfortable with his skillset. But it doesn’t take more than 10-20 games to become good at playing this hero.

Troll Warlord can make excellent use of many different items. You can play him using a Battle Fury build, a BKB, a Sange & Yasha, a Skull Basher, or even an MKB. Buying a Morbid Mask is always a good idea because the lifesteal is absolutely insane.
