Toys for Bob hints at Spyro The Dragon’s 25th-anniversary return

The Toys for Bob studio responsible for Spyro Reignited Trilogy promises an exciting 2023 for its popular franchise.

The first PlayStation had an incredible catalog of games. There was a lot to choose from, but we often remember the two characters that Sony tried to push in its battle with Sega (Sonic) and Nintendo (Mario). Of course, we are talking about Spyro and Crash Bandicoot.

The beloved marsupial Crash has resurfaced in 2017 with The Remastered Trilogy and followed up in 2020 with a completely new title — Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About time. Moreover, the Crash Team Rumble in planned for release in 2023.

Meanwhile, Spyro has also got a remastered version of the original trilogy with Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018, however, no new titles in the franchise have been mentioned, until now.

About Spyro the Dragon

The game narrates the adventures of a young dragon named Spyro, who fights against his enemies and overcomes various challenges to save his kingdom. The first game in the series, Spyro the Dragon, was released in 1998 for the PlayStation console.

Is Spyro 4 a real possibility?

Toys for Bob recently published a tweet that aroused expectations among Spyro fans. The saga of the little dragon celebrates its 25th anniversary on September 10, 2023, which implies that Spyro could return, as already happened with the game’s 20th anniversary in 2018. In this case, fans expect a new installment in the style of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About time.

Looking at the image, you can see different images of stuff developed by Toys for Bob or those with which he collaborated with other Activision Blizzard studios.

In the lower-left corner, we see an image of Call of Duty, as Toys for Bob provided support to COD Warzone. The surprise is in the upper-left corner. Nothing more and nothing less than Spyro, accompanied by a call sign for the 25th anniversary of the character and the franchise.

Gamers have been quick to get excited at the prospect of the studio celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Spyro saga with a new announcement. This release has given rise to theories about remastering and even new installments expanding the iconic purple dragon franchise.

Activision is working on remasters of classic games

Activision not only intends to develop more remasterings of classics like Crash or Spyro. It has also been working on this kind of release to bring back iconic video game characters.

Unfortunately, we must wait for Toys For Bob to share more information about their plans for 2023. However, we will keep an eye on Toys For Bob and Activision to see if they reveal what games they will release in 2023.
