The second action-packed day in VCT Pacific League week 8 has come to an end. Team Secret has finally accomplished what other teams failed to do so far: defeating DRX. Team Secret not only defeated DRX but completely swept all maps giving a strong statement. On the other hand, Global Esports also registered a crucial win over DetonatioN FocusMe without dropping a single map.

Here is the detailed recap for the second day of VCT Pacific League week 8:

Team Secret vs DRX Gaming

Team Secret managed to pull a major upset in the tournament by defeating DRX. So far, Korean sides were unbeatable in this league but finally registered 1 L in the leaderboard. A total of three maps were decided for this matchup Haven, Ascent, and Fracture. However, we got our winner in just two maps.

Haven

DRX took a solid start on the attack by winning three initial rounds in a row. However, TS were quick with its counterattacks by securing 5 rounds consecutively. Overall, the first half belongs to TS with an 8-4 scoreline. Considering an attacker’s favored map, this wasn’t a great start from the DRX side.

Nevertheless, after the rounds swap, DRX once again won pistol and follow-up rounds but failed to carry this momentum in later rounds. Ultimately, a strong attack from the Secret leads the map in their favor by a 13-8 scoreline.

Ascent

After getting humiliated on their opponent’s map pick, DRX moved to their own’s Ascent. Once again, pistol round dominance continued by DRX. Additionally, they moved the scoreboard to 9-3 in the first half.

After a change of sides, TS once again proved why they are the most unpredictable team in this league. We witnessed a complete shift in approach from the Secret side. In the entire second half, DRX could only score 2 rounds. Finally, Team Secret gifted DRX their first loss of the tournament. To be honest, regardless of stats, it is really hard to choose a single MVP as a complete team effort leads to this result.

Global Esports vs DetonatioN FocusMe

No doubt, Global Esports were a clear favorite for this clash. Opposite to the first match, there was not any surprising result as Global Esports register a comfortable win over Japanese counterparts with a 2-0 scoreline. A total of three maps were decided for this matchup Lotus, Pearl, and Bind. However, just like the first match, we got results without a decider.

Lotus

It was a wise decision for DFM to pick Lotus which was indeed a fair selection considering, Global Esports has less adaptability on this map. Regardless, Global Esports took a very aggressive stance from the beginning. The first half ended in favor of Global Esports by an 8-4 scoreline. There were some instances when Global Esports let very easy rounds slip from their hands.

Moving to the second half, we saw much more resilience from the DFM side as compared to the first half. In the end, it was Global Esports who get away with the win by a 13-7 score. Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar was a freaking beast with his Jett gameplay (24K/12D/3A) with 313 ACS.

Pearl

Pearl has been a popular choice from Global Esports in this league and they equally justified this by winning 11 rounds in the first half. Although, it was almost decided who is going to take away the map but not that easy. Despite reaching on map point in the 13th round, GE were finally able to secure the map in the 19th round. This time Mr. Consistent so far, Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha drops 16 kills at 225 ACS.

The third day of VCT Pacific league week 8 will begin tomorrow where RRQ and Gen.G will be in action against Talon and ZETA respectively.
