According to some sources, the start of VALORANT’s top women’s competition is scheduled for April. Moreover, it will reportedly feature a novel group stage and format changes.

VCT Game Changers EMEA 2023

Since its official launch on June 2, 2020, VALORANT has not stopped growing as a video game and esports. The latter section is about men’s and women’s competitions.

VALORANT Game Changers became, at the end of 2022, the most-watched women’s tournament in esports. This has undoubtedly encouraged Riot Games to continue supporting this tournament. With this, for 2023, the women’s and marginalized gender section of the VCT would already have the premiere dates and a new format to continue the progression.

Start date

According to reports in different media, the VCT Game Changers EMEA 2023 will take place in early April. Therefore, the first week of April will be the start of the open qualifiers to search for the coveted place in this tournament, where only 16 teams will have the chance to participate.

Not all participating teams must play the qualifiers to qualify, as Riot will directly invite some organizations. For example, one of these teams should be G2 Gozen, who dominated the EMEA scene and won the VALORANT Champions. On the other hand, we can’t forget Cloud9 White, one of the North American beasts that also performed spectacularly in 2022.

VCT Game Changers format

The big novelty will be the format of the Game Changers concerning the 2022 season. During the 2022 season, teams would play in two Brackets, Upper and Lower, consisting of rounds of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals. After advancing through the finals in both Brackets, teams would advance to the grand final to compete for the championship title.

This season, the VCT Game Changers will have a Group Stage as it will be played in the men’s VCT. This means that the groups will be made up of eight teams, which will play best of three, and the six best teams will advance to the playoffs.

In the playoffs, the Game Changers will maintain the double Brackets, i.e., the same format as the 2022 season. However, all games will be played in best-of-three, except the Grand Final, which will be played in best-of-five.

The bottom finishers in each group will be relegated to the CT Game Changers EMEA: Contenders. Which is the newly created second division of the circuit. On the other hand, other divisions were also created, such as:

  • VCT Game Changers EMEA: Emergents
  • VCT Game Changers EMEA: Academy

This is to give female players more opportunities to compete.

Riot Games blog announcement

This Discord channel will also be a centralized source for the latest Game Changers EMEA news and updates. Alongside the Emergents community will be VCT Game Changers EMEA: Academy, which will provide educational content from personalities that we know and love. The objective is to give the Game Changers community a chance to learn more about careers within the VALORANT ecosystem.”
