Torzsi has a spectacular start at IEM Cologne 2023

One of the most criticized AWPers in the first six months of the 2023 season, Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás, played the best game we have seen him play in his LAN career at the start of IEM Cologne 2023.

It is no secret that torzsi is a great talent with the AWP. However, the player was well below his level in the first few months of the year, and criticism started to rain down on him. However, MOUZ decided to give him a chance to be in the starting lineup in the second half of the season, and he has certainly not disappointed.

Torzsi had an exceptional game in the tournament opener for MOUZ against TheMongolz, scoring no less than 50 kills. As a result, the talented Hungarian AWPer dressed as a hero to lead MOUZ to a 22-19 victory.

Thanks to torzsi’s masterful performance, MOUZ took an Overtime win over TheMongolz to continue to the Upper Bracket of the Play-In Phase. In addition, this match also served as a boost for the next match against NiP, as they got an excellent clean sweep to qualify for the Group Stage of the tournament.

However, here we are specifically to talk about torzsi’s feat since 50 kills in a match are something we usually see in players like Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev, etc. It’s true that CS:GO is a complete team game, but it’s also true that torzsi was the one in charge of leading MOUZ to victory against TheMongolz.

None of the team members had more than 27 kills in that first match. In addition, this masterful performance by the Hungarian AWPer earned him a 1.67 Rating, according to HLTV.

Torzsi takes a huge weight off his shoulders

As we mentioned, torzsi had played a disappointing first half of the season, so he had to show all his talent in this tournament to silence the critics worldwide. Even at the players’ break a few weeks ago, the community labeled him the “worst” AWPer in the top-level CS:GO competitive scene.

However, in this player break, torzsi gave an interview where he apologized to the fans for his poor performance in the first half of the season. However, in the interview, the Hungarian AWPer said he was uncomfortable with the gameplay system he had to implement under Christopher “dexter” Nong. In addition, torzsi also mentioned that he wished to play with Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek again as MOUZ’s IGL, which is currently fulfilled.

Similarly, it is still too early to say whether siuhy’s return as MOUZ’s IGL will completely change torzsi’s level of play. However, if he continues to play the way he played the first three maps of IEM Cologne 2023, he can easily be among the best in the world. Still, we will have to wait for MOUZ to face the best teams in the Group Stage for torzsi to prove his current level.
