The third competitive day of the second stage of DreamLeague S19 is over and the battle for the four playoffs spots continues to be fierce. Not a single competitor has managed to win all three matches and nobody lost all three either. All eight teams have similar records. This makes the next four days very exciting.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, it’s clear that Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, and Tundra Esports are the biggest favorites. All of the eight teams that are still in the race are from Western Europe, North America, or South America. But four of them are from Europe and they seem to be dominating the competition.

Day 3 results

On the third day of DreamLeague S19, four matches took place. The first three of them ended with a 2-0 result, while the fourth was a bit more challenging for both sides.

Team Liquid took on Shopify Rebellion and won with ease. In both games, they used Io plus Leshrac, which proved to be a deadly combination. Shopify’s Invoker plus Doom combo was not able to hold the line and the game was lost in both cases very early on. There wasn’t a single moment when Liquid gave the impression that they might lose.

The second match of the day took place between Gaimin Gladiators and beastcoast. Initially, people expected beastcoast to cause a lot of trouble. But their late-game-oriented drafts were countered to perfection by GG’s heroes.

The Europeans simply adopted an early-game mindset and decided to dominate the first 20 minutes of the game. And then, using that advantage, to win through brute force and perfect map control. And that’s exactly what happened. Game 1 was over after just 30 minutes while game 2 lasted 23.

Tundra Esports tricked OG into thinking that they were going to play for the late game, when in fact they wanted to end the battle as soon as possible. Game 1 was over in 24 minutes. Tundra picked Terrorblade, which tends to need a long time to fully develop, and that made OG pick Anti-Mage, to secure their late game.

But Tundra just switched gears and went all-in on aggression. Game 2 was much harder, but in the end, after 39 minutes, it ended just like the first.

In the last match of the day, between TSM and Evil Geniuses, both teams played really well but in the final game of the series, EG’s heroes scaled much better into the late game and won.
