The Most Played Maps in CS:GO in 2022

CS:GO is a game that focuses intensely on two things: guns and maps. Unlike new-school first-person shooters, which utilize MOBA elements to make the action more captivating, CS:GO is a pure FPS in which characters have no other attributes apart from health and armor.

There are numerous maps that can be played in CS:GO, and numerous game modes. But when you play the game competitively, the options narrow down significantly. There’s only one mode available, called Competitive, and around a dozen different maps.

Seven of these maps are part of the Active Duty Map Pool, which is the set of maps that are currently used in esports tournaments. However, not all maps are played in equal amounts. Some are a lot more popular than others and a few are genuinely disliked by the community.

Different teams have different preferences. Each team usually bans one of the seven maps in every single game because they never play it, nor do they practice on it. This means that out of the seven available maps, two of them are out from the start.

In pub games, players can choose what map they want to play each time. This is great because it allows you to specialize. The best thing that you can do if you want to master CS:GO much faster is to focus your attention on just one or two maps and ignore the rest.

This will allow you to dedicate more of your mental energy to noticing patterns related to the game itself. If you constantly need to worry about learning the maps you are playing, it’s hard to think about the other elements of your game: aiming, positioning, grenade usage, communication, tactics, etc.

Most Played CS:GO Maps

In 2022, it’s estimated that the most played map in CS:GO has been Mirage. Around 28% of the games are played on this map and it’s easy to understand why.

Mirage offers excellent opportunities for long-distance duels, as well as numerous hiding spots for the CT side. But at the same time, it gives the T side everything it needs to successfully plant the bomb. The preferred location in a lot of cases is B site, just because it’s easier to smoke key positions and flashbang the others.

The other highly played maps this year have been Inferno (24%), and Dust II (14%). This is the reason why we see these maps over and over in tournaments. Everyone loves them.
