The Guard secure a spot for VCT Americas League

After a perfect VCT 2023 Ascension Americas, the North American squad, The Guard, demonstrated great play by defeating M80 in the Grand Final to secure their spot for the VCT Americas League 2024/25.

Undoubtedly, this team is justly deserving as they dominated the VALORANT Challengers scene in the NA region from start to finish. On the other hand, they defeated two very strong teams, The Union and M80, which also had many possibilities to fight for this coveted quota.

Now, The Guard joins the other 10 teams in the VCT Americas League for the next two seasons. As a result, the team knows they will have to compete at a much higher level to face powerful squads such as LOUD, Evil Geniuses, and many more.

Let’s see what happened in the VCT 2023 Ascension Americas Grand Final match between The Guard and M80.

The Guard applied a reverse sweep to take the victory over M80.

There is no doubt that the Grand Final was full of emotions from start to finish, but M80’s victory on the first map made things much more interesting. However, The Guard applied a reverse sweep to win 3-1 and get the Spot for the VCT Americas League.

It all started on Ascent, The Guard’s map pick, where the M80 boys started extremely strong, led by Alexander “Zander” Dituri. They took a partial victory in the first half by 8-4 thanks to excellent team performance. Then, at the change of sides, The Guard got dangerously close to the scoreboard and even managed to make it 11-11. However, M80 won the last two rounds to secure the first map.

On the second map, Haven, we had a very strong performance by the guys from The Guard, who ended M80’s aspirations to go 2-0 up in the series. The first half ended with an excellent score of 11-1 in favor of The Guard. Then, at the start of the second half, M80 managed to win the first two rounds, but this was not enough, and The Guard took the victory by 13-3.

The Guard annihilate M80

In the third map, Bind, things were much more even, as M80 started very strong and managed to take the victory in the first half with an 8-4 partial. However, The Guard woke up immediately, and with a spectacular offensive, they managed even to score 12-12 to send the game to Overtime. Finally, The Guard won the first two rounds of OT to take the victory by 14-12 and put the series 2-1 in their favor.

Finally, we again enjoyed an intense and spectacular match in Pearl, as both teams left everything in each round. It all started with an excellent 6-6 partial score in the first half, which indicated that the series was closer than ever. However, the Guard’s attacking side again brought out all their potential and took the victory by 13-9. As a result, The Guard gets the spot for the next two seasons of the VCT Americas League.
