The Challengers Stage of the PGL Major Antwerp has concluded yesterday and the remaining teams are now enjoying a day off before jumping into the Legends Stage. Eights out of 16 teams have advanced to the second stage of the prestigious CS:GO tournament featuring $1 million in prize money.

The competition has already provided many action-packed CS:GO matches, however, the most exciting ones are ahead in the following stages of the Major. The competition has been so far dominated by G2 Esports, followed by Team Vitality ranking in second place and ENCE in the third. The eight advancing teams will be joined by eight teams already waiting in the Legends Stage.

Similarly to the Challengers Stage, the Legends Stage will use a Swiss system tournament format, where all matches are best-of-one, except for advancement and elimination matches, which will be best-of-three series.

Astralis, Complexity and MIBR eliminated

Perhaps the biggest surprise at the Valve-sponsored event so far was the elimination of Astralis. Other strong teams that failed to qualify for Legends include Complexity and MIBR. On the contrary, among the teams that weren’t expected to advance are Outsiders, Team Spirit, Imperial Esports and Bad News Eagles.

One of the highlights of the tournament was also Team Liquid’s comeback after losing to G2 and Imperial. However, the team bounced back in the following match against 9z and without losing a single map finished its run through Challengers, eliminating both Astralis and Complexity on the way.

Legends Stage Teams and schedule

Teams that are waiting to start in the Legends Stage include BIG, Natus Vincere, Heroic, FaZe Clan, Cloud9, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Copenhagen Flames and FURIA.

They will be joined by advancing G2 Esports, ENCE, Team Liquid, Team Vitality, Outsiders, Team Spirit, Bad News Eagles and Imperial Esports.

The opening matches of the Legends Stage start on Saturday, May 14 at 12:00 CEST, featuring battles of Heroic against Team Liquid and Copenhagen Flames against Bad News Eagles. Among the matches not to miss during the first day are also Natus Vincere vs. G2 Esports and FaZe Clan vs. ENCE — both clashes that could potentially repeat later in the playoffs stage.

The Legends Stage of the MGL Major in Antwerp will run until May 17 and will be followed by the last stage of the event, the Champions Stage, set to take place from May 19 to 22.
