An all-Russian slate of athletes will compete in another unique component of Games of the Future: a Battle Tanks competition.

It is still unclear which specific battle tank game will be used for the said competition, but the organizers have already laid ground rules for the said match via their official Telegram channel.

In a format reminiscent of high-stakes sporting events, teams will be divided into two groups, each comprising four formidable contenders. The battle lines will be drawn as these teams engage in a series of matches following the GSL (Global StarCraft II League) format.

The intensity ramps up as the tournament progresses, with teams battling it out to secure a place in the semifinals. The playoffs will adhere to the Olympic system, ensuring that only the strongest and most resilient teams advance to the next stage of the competition.

Matches will be played in a Best-of-9 format, adding an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to the proceedings. As the competition reaches its climax, the tension will be palpable as teams compete in nail-biting Best-of-13 finals.

Each team will be played in a 7-versus-7 stage. SOLNCE, Vechnaya Zima, Synergy.OilGas, Rise, Beyond, ENEMY, WhoCares? & Scandal – all Russian teams, have confirmed for the said game.

Organizers also say there will be a phygital (physical-digital) Super Final showmatch, the final format of which is also to be announced.

This is just one of the many formats that are part of the Games of the Future 2024 event, which highlights a fusion between physical games and virtual competitions.

A US$500,000 prize pool will be up for grabs in this tournament, which will take place from February 21 to 26 at the Kazan IT Park in Russia.
