Teamfight Tactics is gearing up for a major shake-up in playstyles and strategies with the introduction of 20 new Artifacts and 5 Support Items arriving in Set 11’s Patch 14.9. These powerful new effects and items will drastically alter how players approach team building, positioning, and win conditions.
Developer Wittrock recently tweeted details on all the fresh Artifact and Support Item additions headed to TFT’s Public Beta Environment (PBE) testing servers. From assassin-enabling effects to bizarre auto-attack modifiers, there’s an abundance of new gameplay possibilities to explore in Set 11.
Let’s break down all the new Artifacts and Support Items coming in TFT Patch 14.9 and how they could impact the current meta.
New Set 11 Artifacts
- Suspicious Trench Coat: Generates a clone of the holder at the start of combat. Effectively a combination of Edge of Night and Trickster’s Glass Crowns.
- Talisman of Ascension: Massively boosts stats after 20 seconds of combat survival. A game-ender if the holder lives long enough.
- Unending Despair: Drains max HP from enemies when shielding. Excels on sustaining champions like Yasuo.
- Lightshield Crest: Generates a shield based on the holder’s bonus Armor and Magic Resist.
- Innervating Locket: The holder gains mana rapidly while healing whenever an ability is cast.
- Horizon Focus: Holder’s attacks deal bonus magic damage after inflicting a stun.
- Forbidden Idol: Converts holder’s shields into permanent bonus HP at a reduced ratio.
- Prowler’s Claw: Allows the holder to quickly gap-close and assassinate a high-priority target.
And many more, such as Mittens, Rapid Firecannon, Blighting Jewel, and Lich Bane!
Several of these Artifacts open up incredibly unique build opportunities and playstyles previously unseen in Teamfight Tactics. Suspicious Trench Coat could enable potent Duelist or Assassin team comps by spawning multiple units that close gaps on the back line. Meanwhile, Artifacts like Cursed Blade allow dedicated anti-tank builds by shredding bonus HP and Star levels on beefy frontline targets.
With new Artifacts modifying everything from stun mechanics to shield values, auto attack speed, and more, players will have to reconsider how they construct teams, position units, manage unit stats, and synergize effects. The breadth of new strategic options to explore should dramatically shake up TFT’s gameplay in Set 11.
New Support Items
In addition to the generous helping of new Artifacts, Patch 14.9 is also introducing 5 new Support Items to the TFT item pool:
- The Eternal Flame: Provide anti-heal and bonus damage to allies after a short delay.
- Knight’s Vow: Grants Omnivamp to melee allies, healing them based on damage dealt.
- Moonstone Renewer: Heals allies at intervals as the combat drags on.
- Spite: Increases ally Attack Damage while buffing the holder’s Attack Speed.
- Unstable Treasure Chest: Grants 3 completed item components to nearby allies when the holder dies.
These new Support Items open up alternative utility and sustain options for TFT teams. Items like Knight’s Vow and Moonstone Renewer cater to melee-focused Duelist or Bruiser compositions by providing them with sustain tools previously not available.
Meanwhile, Spite offers a unique set of offensive and defensive boosts at once, potentially being the catalyst for never-before-seen hybrid builds centered around Attack Speed and Attack Damage stacking.
Finally, Unstable Treasure Chest is a high-variance, high-risk item that could provide a massive late-game power spike if executed correctly. Positioning the holder to die at just the right time could spread massively powerful item combinations to your whole team in the nick of time.
Exciting Gameplay
Overall, the surplus of new Artifacts and Support Items coming in TFT Set 11 Patch 14.9 is set to reinvigorate the game’s strategic depth and open the floodgates to innovative team compositions and win conditions. While the new content will usher in a period of chaotic experimentation, it also represents a tantalizing new era for TFT’s gameplay that veterans and newcomers alike can sink their teeth into.
We’ll have to wait and see which overpowered combinations rise to the top and which new Artifacts or Support Items flop. But one thing’s for sure–Teamfight Tactics has never looked as wild and unpredictable as it will in the dawning Set 11 meta.
