The Six Invitational 2023 is now in full swing and some teams have already had to say goodbye to the tournament.

There were a few surprises, but expectations for some teams were also met. We have summarized the recent matches for you here!

DarkZero Esports vs. G2 Esports

After a very one-sided streak against G2 Esports, DarkZero Esports is eliminated from the 2023 Six Invitational. Yesterday, Berlin Major champion KOI defeated the purple team with a superb performance from William “Spoit” Löfstedt. Then DarkZero dropped into the lower bracket where G2 was already waiting for them. Jack “Doki” Robertson and Karl “Alem4o” Zarth led the Europeans to a very quick victory which G2 Esports took 7-1 and 7-5.

The Charlotte Major champions came to the tournament with recently signed Gaven “Gaveni” Black, who still had his premier class debut ahead of him. Wins over Team Secret, Heroic, and M80 allowed them to finish third in their Six Invitational 2023 group.

M80 vs. Spacestation Gaming

Spacestation Gaming was eliminated by M80 in the second round of the lower bracket. It was very exciting for the NAL team as their only win of the tournament came against Elevate in their first game of the group stage. From there, the Americans have lost to G2 Esports, KOI and w7m esports.

Going into Spacestation’s first game today, the odds were in their favor. Heroic had lost every series against NAL teams at the 2023 Six Invitational. First, the Europeans lost to DarkZero Esports, with M80 being the second NAL team to defeat Heroic. The third defeat came yesterday when Oxygen Esports beat the Danish organization in the day’s most one-sided series.

Team BDS vs. Team Liquid

Team Liquid is eliminated from the 2023 Six Invitational after losing to Team BDS. After today’s loss of FaZe Clan to G2 Esports, they became the second Brazilian team eliminated from the Six Invitational.

Team Liquid threw Team BDS on the first map of the series when they defeated the French 7-4 on Chalet. However, the European team won the series thanks to two 7-4 victories at Clubhouse and Theme Park. Before losing to Team BDS, Team Liquid had lost to Wolves Esports, MNM Gaming and Soniqs in the group stage.

It is the team’s worst result at the Six Invitational since 2020, where they finished 9th-12th. In 2021, the Brazilians reached the Grand Finals, and in 2022, Liquid was in the top six.

Astralis vs. Soniqs

Soniqs are eliminated from the 2023 Six Invitational after a 2-1 loss in the first round of the lower bracket to regional rivals Astralis. The North Americans were considered one of the tournament favorites following the signing of Ben “CTZN” McMillan from G2 Esports after the conclusion of Stage 3. In an interview with SiegeGG ahead of the 2023 Six Invitational, Pablo “Gryxr” Rebeil described this team as one that has “no ceiling” – and that’s how it looked at the start of their Invitational run.

Soniqs finished second in their group, just behind MNM Gaming, and looked good. However, after meeting DarkZero Esports in the first round of the Upper Bracket, they suffered a surprise 2-1 loss. In the Lower Bracket they started against Astralis with a 7:5 win on the first map but lost the following two with the same result.

Astralis will now take on LOS oNe to assert themselves in the lower bracket, while Soniqs will follow the rest of the tournament from the sidelines.

G2 vs. FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan is the first Brazilian team eliminated at the 2023 Six Invitational. They owe the defeat to G2 Esports. The Brazilians had a tough time in the group stage, finishing Group D in fourth place despite wins against DarkZero Esports and Team Secret.
